Serve in one of two specific capacities
Communications Capacity-Building
- Strengthen organization-wide communications planning, messaging, brand resources, digital systems, and community outreach.
- Improve website, email, social media, editorial planning, content-gathering, campaign, and performance-measurement systems.
- Create reusable templates, toolkits, processes, and training resources that improve consistency, accessibility, and reach.
Development Capacity-Building
- Strengthen systems for grants, donor stewardship, sponsorships, fundraising campaigns, and special events, including Glamp Fire.
- Research prospective funders and partners; improve grant calendars, funding pipelines, reusable proposal resources, and reporting tools.
- Build sustainable donor, event, campaign, and documentation systems that staff and future VISTA members can continue using.
IN EITHER ROLE, MEMBER WILL
- Assess current systems, identify improvements, and create practical tools, procedures, and resources that increase long-term organizational capacity.
- Collaborate with Camp Fire staff, participate in regular supervision and project meetings, and maintain clear records and shared files.
- Train appropriate staff on systems developed and prepare transition materials so progress can continue beyond the service year.
- Participate in required Camp Fire, AmeriCorps, and Red River Community Corps training and follow agency policies and procedures.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. national or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States (individuals who are in the United States under a student, work or tourist visa are not eligible to become an AmeriCorps member)
- High school diploma or GED
- 18 years of age
- Reliable transportation to and from program delivery sites and the Camp Fire office
- Work an average of at least 35 hours per week including some evenings, weekends, and occasional overnights
- Able to meet council employment requirements including acceptable outcomes on background and reference checks
- Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to complete the full VISTA service term and meet AmeriCorps and Red River Community Corps enrollment and service requirements
STRONG CANDIDATES WILL BRING
- Strong communication, organization, follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Comfort using common digital tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, databases, websites, social media, or Canva, depending on the role.
- Interest in nonprofit work, youth development, education, outdoor access, community engagement, fundraising, or communications. Relevant experience is helpful but not required; bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
