Site Maintenance Manager

📍 Location: Graceville, FL
🕒 Shift: 12-Hour Night Shift
💲 Pay: Starting at $85,000 and up, Based on Experience

Position Overview

As the Site Maintenance Manager, you will provide leadership for all overnight sawmill, kiln, and maintenance operations. You will be responsible for ensuring safe work practices, meeting production goals, coordinating maintenance activities, developing employees, and driving operational excellence. This role serves as the primary leader during the night shift and plays a critical role in maintaining efficient, safe, and reliable operations.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

  • Lead and supervise all night shift production, kiln, and maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure production schedules, maintenance priorities, and operational goals are achieved while maintaining quality standards.
  • Monitor production efficiency, equipment utilization, downtime, recovery rates, and overall shift performance.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance activities and repair work completed through work orders.
  • Coordinate daily operations between production, maintenance, quality, and kiln departments.
  • Conduct shift meetings to communicate safety expectations, production objectives, maintenance priorities, and operational updates.
  • Address employee concerns and resolve operational issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Complete shift reports, production summaries, maintenance updates, and communicate critical information during shift handoffs.

At Rex Lumber, safety is our highest priority. As the Site Maintenance Manager, you will lead by example and promote a culture where every employee is committed to working safely.

Responsibilities include:

  • Promote and enforce all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and safe work practices.
  • Lead daily safety discussions and reinforce safe behaviors throughout each shift.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections of equipment, work areas, and employee work practices.
  • Ensure all employees properly wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Identify and immediately correct unsafe conditions and unsafe behaviors.
  • Assist with investigations of workplace incidents, injuries, and near misses to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Ensure Lockout/Tryout procedures, machine guarding, and all safety systems are followed without exception.
  • Partner with maintenance to ensure equipment is safe before returning to operation.
  • Maintain emergency preparedness and ensure employees understand emergency response procedures.
  • Utilize safety management software, including EAM and SafetyAMP, to support compliance and documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing injuries and achieving zero-incident performance.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure lumber quality standards and customer specifications are consistently achieved.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, recovery, efficiency, and waste reduction.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational performance.

Employee Leadership

  • Schedule employees to meet production demands.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Team Leads and production employees.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
  • Recommend promotions, disciplinary actions, and employee development opportunities.
  • Foster a positive work environment built on teamwork, accountability, respect, and communication.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Review employee attendance and timekeeping records.
  • Approve employee timesheets and ensure payroll deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources regarding attendance, payroll corrections, employee relations, and policy interpretation.
  • Maintain accurate production, maintenance, safety, and personnel documentation.

What We're Looking For

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Three (3) years of sawmill or wood products manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced industrial operation.
  • Strong understanding of sawmill equipment and manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety practices.
  • Experience managing production performance and employee development.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Strong decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using ADP Workforce Now is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining attention to detail.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

  • Walk throughout the facility for extended periods.
  • Climb stairs, ladders, platforms, and elevated work areas safely.
  • Stand, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in hot, cold, dusty, noisy, and industrial environments.
  • Work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as operational needs require.
