Job description

Basic function

Plan and direct heat treating operations to most effectively meet corporate objectives. Identify and drive consistent performance improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Alignment of resources, initiatives and operations to achieve business goals and objectives
  • Safety – ensure compliance with safety policies and rules. Promote a safety culture. Safety improvement –continuous reduction of workplace hazards, risks, employee accidents
  • Manufacturing in compliance with quality systems and established process quality standards
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards (safety, environmental, etc.)
  • Customer service (on time performance, cycle times)
  • Forecast, plan, schedule and execute production operations according to priorities
  • Management and coordination of third party outside processers & subcontract suppliers
  • Identification and implementation of improvements
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action investigations into re-work and other quality issues
  • Design 'waste' out of our operations
  • Cultivation of effective employee relations based on mutual respect
  • Effective communication and constructive cooperation between locations and functions
  • Leadership, direction and management of salaried staff and hourly production and maintenance employees
  • Team Based Culture, engage employees in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Stewardship of facilities and equipment
  • Establish and control budgets
  • Recommend capital improvements

  • Metal, machining and/or finishing experience required.

  • Supervisory/leadership or work experience in a union plant
