Description:

Restorations by Highmark is seeking a skilled and dedicated Mitigation Technician. Mitigation Technicians play a vital role in helping individuals and businesses recover from the devastating effects of water, fire, and storm damage. This position is responsible for responding to emergencies in residential and commercial properties, assessing the extent of damage, performing mitigation and restoration tasks, and ensuring that affected properties are returned to their pre-damage condition. This role requires an on-call rotation and travel to job sites, so candidates must possess a valid driver's license, maintain a clean driving record to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review, and successfully complete a background check.

**Pay range $20 – $25 per hour depending on the level of experience**

Summary:

Our Mitigation Technicians are the first responders of the restoration process, arriving quickly to stabilize damaged properties, prevent further loss, and begin returning homes and businesses to pre-loss condition.

Responsibilities:

  • Emergency Response – Participate in an on-call rotation and respond promptly to water, fire, and storm emergencies.
  • Damage Assessment – Evaluate the extent of damage and determine the appropriate scope of mitigation.
  • Mitigation – Perform mitigation tasks to stabilize the property and prevent secondary damage.
  • Water Extraction – Extract standing water and set drying equipment to dry affected structures and materials.
  • Fire Damage Cleanup – Clean soot, smoke, and fire-related residue from affected surfaces and contents.
  • Content Handling – Inventory, pack out, protect, and store customer contents with care.
  • Mold Remediation – Perform mold remediation in accordance with industry standards and safety protocols.
  • Documentation – Complete accurate job documentation, including moisture readings and before-and-after photos.
  • Equipment Maintenance – Maintain, clean, and stage drying and mitigation equipment for the next job.
  • Safety – Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
  • Communication – Communicate clearly with customers, adjusters, and internal teams throughout the job.
  • Customer Service – Deliver a professional, empathetic experience to customers during a stressful time.
  • Quality Control – Ensure work meets Highmark's quality standards before completion.
  • Vehicle Management – Maintain and manage assigned company vehicle and equipment.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in water and fire damage mitigation and restoration is beneficial.
  • Certification in water and fire damage restoration (e.g., IICRC certification) is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of restoration equipment and tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work in physically demanding conditions.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record and ability to pass an MVR screening.
  • Valid DOT Medical Card or the ability to obtain DOT Medical Card.
  • Must pass a background check.
