Construction CarpenterPosition Summary

The Construction Carpenter is responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structural components and building fixtures while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe jobsite. This role ensures all work is completed in accordance with project plans, specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.

The Construction Carpenter works closely with the Project Manager, General Superintendent, and Superintendent to clarify project scopes, coordinate daily activities, and support efficient project execution. This position also collaborates with owners, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to deliver projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and with a high level of client satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Schedule and coordinate the daily activities of craftsmen, material deliveries, testing agencies, site inspections, and on-site labor.
  • Attend bi-weekly progress meetings with craftsmen and suppliers to coordinate project activities and scheduling; communicate meeting outcomes to subcontractors and the Superintendent.
  • Prepare and distribute Weekly Construction Progress Review Notes to field and office personnel, including at least two daily progress photos and a summary of daily activities.
  • Coordinate work schedules in accordance with the project master schedule and promptly communicate any deviations to the Superintendent.
  • Complete daily reports using company-provided software, documenting project activities, labor, equipment usage, and meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including timesheets, daily reports, progress photos, testing reports, inspection records, and as-built drawings.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite through regular housekeeping and cleanup.
  • Communicate, enforce, and promote all safety policies and procedures for personnel on site.
  • Proactively plan upcoming work to identify coordination issues, minimize delays, eliminate rework, and reduce unnecessary costs.
  • Identify potential construction issues and communicate them to the Superintendent, Project Manager, or General Superintendent for appropriate RFI procedures.
  • Control project costs through efficient use of labor, equipment, materials, and value engineering opportunities when appropriate.
  • Ensure all work complies with project plans, specifications, applicable codes, and design requirements.
  • Verify that completed work meets TeamFederal's quality standards and workmanship expectations.
  • Ensure installations are completed accurately and professionally, including proper alignment, levelness, and plumbness.
  • Minimize schedule delays and warranty work by monitoring daily construction activities and addressing issues promptly.
  • Assist the Superintendent in preparing and maintaining accurate as-built drawings throughout the project.
  • Supervise and complete assigned punch list items in a timely manner.
  • Perform rough carpentry, finish carpentry, formwork, concrete placement, site cleanup, and other construction-related tasks as required.
  • Request necessary on-site equipment through the Superintendent or General Superintendent and notify appropriate personnel upon equipment return.
  • Coordinate material requirements with the Superintendent and General Superintendent to support timely purchase order creation by the Project Manager.
  • Safely operate construction equipment as needed, including all-terrain forklifts, skid steers, scissor lifts, core drills, concrete saws, and other jobsite equipment.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality, productivity, professionalism, and continuous improvement in all aspects of the job.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum of five (5) years of commercial construction experience.
  • OSHA 10 Certification required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of all phases of commercial construction and multiple building trades.
  • Ability to sequence and optimize project schedules while maintaining quality, safety, and compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, smartphones, and other technology.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate issues from multiple perspectives.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to identify and resolve potential project challenges before they impact progress.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with diverse teams, subcontractors, clients, and project stakeholders.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain, climb ladders, and safely navigate active construction sites.
  • Ability to perform occasional concrete work, rough carpentry, and finish carpentry.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
