About the Role:
The Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment across construction and industrial sites within the United States. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs that minimize risks and prevent workplace accidents. The Safety Coordinator leads accident investigations to identify root causes and implements corrective actions to avoid recurrence. They collaborate closely with management, employees, and regulatory agencies to ensure adherence to safety regulations and standards. Ultimately, the role aims to foster a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement, protecting both personnel and company assets.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in safety coordination within construction or industrial environments.
- Proven knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems.
- Experience conducting accident investigations and safety audits.
- Strong communication skills to effectively deliver training and safety information.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) certification.
- Experience with fall protection program development and ergonomics assessments.
- Familiarity with construction site safety standards and best practices.
- Proficiency in safety management software and reporting tools.
- Additional training or certification in first aid and emergency response.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough accident investigations to determine causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety management systems and site-specific safety programs.
- Perform regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
- Deliver safety training sessions to employees and contractors, emphasizing construction safety, fall protection, and ergonomics.
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to address safety concerns and promote best practices on-site.
