Brookridge Retirement Community located in Winston-Salem is a gated community that sits on 46 wooded acres. Brookridge has 24-hour security so that our residents remain safe at all times. We also have less than 10:1 staff to patient ratios. Come join a team that is dedicated to making sure our residents receive first-rate continuum of care and services tailored to fit their needs.
Schedule
- 12 hour shift, Day Shift (7am-7pm) available
- Wednesday-Friday or Friday-Sunday
- Overtime Available

Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers skilled nursing care to residents, providing clinical expertise, assessments, and interventions that support optimal health outcomes. The RN is responsible for administering medications and treatments, developing and evaluating care plans, and collaborating with physicians, residents, families, and the care team. This role ensures resident safety, dignity, and quality of life while maintaining compliance with professional standards, facility policies, and regulatory requirements.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provides clinical supervision to licensed practical nurses and certified nursing assistants
Essential Functions
- Provide skilled nursing care to residents in accordance with physician orders, nursing standards, and facility policies.
- Assess, monitor, and document residents’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions, reporting changes promptly to physicians and nursing leadership.
- Administer medications, intravenous therapy, nutrition support, and treatments accurately, following established protocols and documenting care in electronic health records.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with residents, families, physicians, and the interdisciplinary care team.
- Perform comprehensive resident assessments and participate in care conferences to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Support residents with mobility, positioning, and activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.
- Provide education and guidance to residents and families regarding health conditions, treatments, and care plans.
- Uphold resident rights, confidentiality, and infection control protocols to maintain a safe and supportive environment.
- Respond effectively to emergencies, initiating life-saving measures when required.
- Collaborate with nursing assistants, LPNs, and other staff to ensure coordinated, high-quality resident care.
- This position is designated as essential to the operations of the organization. Team members in this role may be required to report into work (on-site at the community) during emergencies, inclement weather, or other situations when the organization remains operational.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws, including HIPAA and the Code of Conduct, completing required training and reporting concerns promptly.
Physical Demands
- Always required to stand, walk, and assist resident.
- Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently required to bend, reach, push, and pull.
- Occasionally required to lift or assist in lifting individuals over 100 pounds with team or equipment assistance.
- Occasionally required to kneel or crouch.
- Visual acuity to observe resident condition and read charts.

Work Environment
- Always works indoors in resident-living area.
- Frequently exposed to bodily fluids and communicable diseases; PPE provided.
- Frequently works near residents experiencing physical or emotional distress.
- Occasionally exposed to strong odors, cleaning chemicals, and medical waste.
- Occasionally works in noisy environments due to equipment and alarms.
- Rarely works outdoors or in non-clinical areas.
Qualification Requirements
- Associates Degree in Nursing.
- Graduate of accredited Nursing Program, required.
- Actively registered with the North Carolina Board of Nursing (or compact state), and in good standing, required.
- Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of relevant experience working in long-term care or assisted living, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices, medical terminology, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills with the ability to develop and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Proficiency in administering IV therapy, nutrition support, and advanced nursing procedures.
- Ability to respond effectively to emergencies, exercising sound judgment and initiating appropriate interventions.
- Clear and professional communication skills for interacting with residents, families, physicians, and care team members.
- Commitment to confidentiality, professional ethics, and resident rights.
- Compassion, patience, and attentiveness in providing resident-centered care.
