Technical Accounting Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Technical Accounting Manager based in the United States.

This role is a high-impact technical accounting position within a fast-scaling, technology-driven environment where precision, judgment, and strong accounting fundamentals are critical. You will act as a key subject matter expert on complex U.S. GAAP topics, with a strong emphasis on revenue recognition and contract accounting under ASC 606. The position involves close partnership with cross-functional teams including Finance, Legal, Sales, Tax, and Operations to ensure accurate accounting treatment across commercial arrangements. You will also play a central role in strengthening accounting policies, improving internal controls, and enhancing operational efficiency through better processes and automation. In addition, this role requires hands-on involvement in audit support, technical memo preparation, and continuous improvement initiatives that modernize accounting workflows. It is well suited for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in high-growth environments and enjoys solving complex accounting challenges with clarity and structure.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead technical accounting research and prepare detailed, well-supported accounting memos on complex U.S. GAAP topics, particularly ASC 606 and related guidance.
  • Review customer and commercial contracts to assess revenue recognition implications and ensure proper accounting treatment is documented prior to execution.
  • Evaluate performance obligations, transaction price allocation, revenue timing, and contract modifications under ASC 606 principles.
  • Support accounting analysis related to contract cost capitalization, commission accounting, and other deal-related considerations.
  • Develop, maintain, and update accounting policies and technical position papers to support a scalable accounting framework.
  • Serve as a key technical resource for revenue recognition and complex accounting issues across the finance organization.
  • Support external audit processes by preparing technical documentation, schedules, and audit-ready support materials.
  • Assist with tax-related workstreams, including coordination for sales tax and income tax documentation.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Sales, RevOps, and other teams to identify and resolve accounting implications early in the deal lifecycle.
  • Identify inefficiencies in accounting workflows and contribute to process improvements, automation, and AI-enabled enhancements.
  • Cross-train across accounting functions to support redundancy and operational resilience within the team.

Requirements:

  • 6–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including both public accounting and industry roles.
  • Prior experience in a major public accounting firm is required.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise with hands-on application of ASC 606 and other U.S. GAAP standards.
  • Proven ability to research complex accounting issues and produce high-quality technical memos and documentation.
  • Experience reviewing contracts and translating commercial terms into accounting conclusions.
  • Familiarity with contract cost capitalization, commission accounting, and related revenue recognition topics.
  • CPA certification is required.
  • Experience with NetSuite is strongly preferred.
  • Background in SaaS, technology, or high-growth/pre-IPO environments is a plus.
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and a high standard for audit-ready documentation.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, hands-on approach with the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments.

Benefits:

  • Competitive base salary between 116,000 and 150,000 plus equity
  • Remote-first work environment within the United States
  • Equity participation in a high-growth technology company
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage and standard employee benefits
  • Exposure to complex, high-impact technical accounting challenges
  • Opportunity to improve and modernize accounting processes through automation and AI tools
  • Collaborative, cross-functional work environment with strong ownership culture
  • Professional growth in a fast-scaling finance organization
