Maureen Joy Charter School is seeking Multilingual (ML) Teachers for the 2026-2027 school year.
The Opportunity:
Maureen Joy Charter School is accepting applications from joyful, passionate, creative, and dedicated Multilingual Teachers who are committed to fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required. A degree in Multilingual Education, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), or a related linguistic field is preferred.
  • Hold or be eligible for a valid teaching certification in English as a Second Language (ESL) or Multilingual Education.
  • Proven experience in classroom teaching at the elementary or middle school level, with a demonstrated track record of supporting diverse linguistic populations.
  • Strong understanding of state academic standards paired with English Language Development (ELD) curriculum frameworks (WIDA).
  • Ability to utilize diverse, research-based instructional methods and scaffolding techniques tailored to different language proficiency tiers.
Key Responsibilities
  • Rigorous, Scaffolded Curriculum: Execute a rigorous, standards-based curriculum, integrating English Language Development (ELD) standards to scaffold instruction for students at all language proficiency levels.
  • Comprehensive Lesson Delivery: Plan, implement, and evaluate differentiated lessons that simultaneously promote academic content mastery and language domain growth (listening, speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Data-Driven Refinement: Analyze and utilize linguistic and classroom data to refine lessons, accommodations, and language-support systems, ensuring maximum effectiveness, student engagement, and timely feedback.
  • Continuous Professional Growth: Participate actively in professional development sessions focused on second-language acquisition, coaching meetings, and feedback conversations to continuously improve teaching practices.
  • Team Collaboration: Engage actively with members of the ML team as well as grade-level and content-area teams to align student language goals.
  • Inclusive Culture & Systems: Implement school-wide systems and routines alongside culturally responsive practices to create a cohesive, aligned, and predictable classroom culture.
  • Active, Asset-Based Atmosphere: Create and maintain a classroom atmosphere that encourages active learning, collaborative conversation, and participation from all multilingual students.
  • Stakeholder Partnerships: Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, translators, and stakeholders to advocate for student success.

  • Data-Driven Language Growth: A documented track record of driving measurable student achievement and language proficiency gains through the consistent analysis of student-level and class-level performance data.
  • Mindset for Coaching & Continuous Growth: A growth mindset featuring openness, enthusiasm, and a proactive approach toward applying coaching feedback to enhance instructional practices.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Cross-Cultural Communication & Organization: Strong organizational skills paired with exceptional cross-cultural communication abilities, ensuring clear, accessible engagement with students, families, and school staff.
  • Adaptive Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: Adept at proactive problem-solving and critical thinking to navigate complex instructional challenges and advocate effectively for student resources.
  • Developmental & Linguistic Expertise: Deep knowledge of child development and research-based language acquisition strategies tailored explicitly to the academic and social needs of elementary and/or middle school-age groups.
  • Collaborative Co-Teaching Alignment: Proven skill in fostering a collaborative, professional learning environment through effective co-planning and alignment with general education teachers and the broader ML team.
  • Linguistic Data-Driven Instruction: Demonstrated ability to implement data-driven instruction, utilizing both language proficiency data and academic assessments to inform daily intervention and programmatic decision-making.

  • Diverse Community Engagement: Engage deeply with a rich, diverse school community, participating in various school initiatives, cultural celebrations, and family-outreach activities to strengthen home-school connection.
Other Essential Responsibilities
  • School-Wide Operations Support: Assist in various school duties, including arrival, lunch, dismissal, and recess as needed.
  • Policy & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with school policies and regulatory requirements.
Reporting Structure
  • You will report directly to the Assistant Principal of Student Support Services.

Miscellaneous
  • Participation in extracurricular activities such as clubs, sports, or after-school tutoring is encouraged.
  • Flexibility to take on auxiliary roles within the school as needed to support overall student engagement and success.
