Job Description
As a Baker, you will be responsible for the preparation and baking of bread and other items that are consistent with Atwater’s quality standards. You will also be required to ensure a positive company image by providing communication, and consistency to be a valuable member to the team.
Atwater's is a traditional bread bakery, making sourdough and yeasted bread, from simple raw ingredients (flour, water, and salt). We are working with large quantities of dough (up to 1000 kilograms total), so the right person for this job is physically capable. The bread baker position is 4 - 10 hour shifts, mostly on your feet.
Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Be accurate in mixing, rounding, dividing, shaping, scaling, proofing, and baking to ensure consistency in daily production.
- Be accurate in bake times, and oven temps to ensure consistency in daily production. Know the baking conditions can change daily and be able to adjust accordingly in daily production.
- Reviews production schedules to determine variety and quantity of goods bake and to distribute to the locations for daily baking needs.
- Recognize food costs and minimize over-production and waste.
- Clean equipment and work area after use or closing. Unload and put away bakery ingredients and products.
- Detects and takes actions to address unattractive bread or pastry, defective supplies/equipment, and/or other unusual conditions.
- Communicates bread updates or issues to supervisor/manager.
- Follow and comply with health and sanitation procedures and adheres to safe work practices.
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisors/managers.
Qualifications:
- Able to follow instructions and procedures.
- Able to work with a team.
- Able to work independently.
- Attendance and punctuality is a must.
- Have or acquire Serve Safe certificate.
- Stand and walk for extended period of time.
- Bend and lift loads.
- Able to move 50 lb bags of flour
- Able to Lift and cutout large portions of dough.
- Able to work between 4 10 hr shifts between Monday - Saturday
- Must be able to work from on Friday and Saturdays
- Flexibility in schedule, weekend hours can range from 8 am until midnight or 1 am.
