THE ROLE

The North America Transportation and Project Manager is a key position across the Wella Supply Chain organization. This position will execute a high level of transportation management and coordination between systems, servers and operational metrics that impact freight payment management, operational optimization, and systems development. This position is a key player in driving cost savings and improvement projects as well as leveraging various data sources to support the operational business and drive focus to areas of opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transportation Team Leadership
    • Lead a team of employees supporting transportation operations and freight performance across North America
    • Manage international import/export compliance and reporting for the region
    • Manage daily interaction with FTL, LTL, and ocean carriers, and support vendor compliance for top retailers
    • Own financial results and KPI performance across all transportation modes
    • Develop and improve processes, systems, and metrics for the operations team
  • Efficiency & Strategic Projects Leadership
    • Identify and lead operational excellence and efficiency projects from idea development through implementation and completion
    • Track, communicate, and forecast project savings, productivity, and service results
    • Support and drive larger strategic initiatives including supply network design, new software platforms, AI adoption, and cross-functional efforts to unlock savings and opportunities across the supply chain
    • Summarize and report project progress
    • Support ad hoc requirements for global company projects
  • Other Duties
    • Reporting development and maintenance: Freight Audit, Operations reviews, Metrics reporting
    • Database maintenance (logic, tables, sourcing)
    • Generate/Maintain SAP Purchase Orders
    • Manage the relationship with the freight payment provider, 3PL and other logistics service providers
    • SQL/Power BI Dashboard development/maintenance
    • Monthly Carrier Reporting (Scorecard support)
    • Ad hoc data analysis requests

Qualifications

  • Leadership, ownership and Project Management skills (planning, organizing and resource allocation)
  • Very Strong analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced level of Excel, Power BI, SQL, data analysis
  • SAP literacy desired
  • Previous experience in Transportation focused roles a plus (Transportation, Order Management)
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Strong ability to convert data insights into action
  • Knowledge of transportation freight payment processes
  • Exposure to carrier networks (FTL, LTL, Parcel, Ocean, and Air)
  • Exposure to Transportation Management Systems
  • Knowledge of international import/export operations and compliance requirements
  • BA/BS from an accredited college or university
  • Experience of 3-5 years or greater in a logistics, supply chain, distribution center role
