Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Engineer, Syncro based in Switzerland.
This is a high-performance engineering role focused on building and optimizing ultra-low-latency infrastructure for blockchain and distributed systems at institutional scale. You will sit at the core of a high-throughput execution and validation environment, where every microsecond matters and system design decisions directly impact network performance and yield outcomes. The role combines deep systems engineering with real-world production responsibility across globally distributed infrastructure. You will work on critical data paths, validator interaction layers, and transaction routing logic in a highly performance-sensitive Rust-based environment. The team operates at the intersection of distributed systems, networking, and blockchain protocol engineering. This is a hands-on role for engineers who thrive in complex, high-stakes technical environments and want to push the boundaries of latency and reliability.
- Architect and develop core Syncro components in Rust, focusing on ultra-low-latency execution paths
- Optimize end-to-end transaction and validator pipelines, including routing, networking, and co-location strategies
- Continuously reduce latency through algorithmic improvements, memory optimization, cache efficiency, and lock-free concurrency patterns
- Design and operate multi-region, high-availability infrastructure across bare-metal and cloud environments
- Eliminate single points of failure and ensure robust failover mechanisms across critical systems
- Own system observability, performance metrics, SLOs, and production alerting for latency-sensitive workflows
- Drive automation of safe deployments and continuous delivery for high-risk infrastructure components
- Lead technical design reviews and set engineering standards for performance-critical systems
- 8+ years of experience in distributed systems or infrastructure engineering with production-scale ownership
- Strong expertise in low-level performance optimization, including memory management, concurrency, and system-level tuning
- Deep experience with Rust or other systems programming languages (C/C++/Go with transition to Rust preferred)
- Strong understanding of networking protocols and latency optimization (TCP, QUIC, routing, peering, kernel/NIC tuning)
- Experience with distributed infrastructure across cloud and bare-metal environments (AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, IaC)
- Background in high-performance or real-time systems such as trading, MEV, or blockchain infrastructure is highly valued
- Solid experience with system design ownership, from architecture through production operations
- Strong English communication skills and ability to work in distributed, asynchronous teams
- Competitive compensation in USD, with optional crypto payment
- Fully remote, global working environment
- Flexible contractor arrangement with long-term collaboration potential
- Paid vacation and sick leave
- Health, wellness, and mental health support programs
- Budget for learning, education, and professional development (including language training)
- Home office equipment and co-working reimbursement
- Access to international conferences and community events
- High-impact engineering work at the forefront of blockchain infrastructure
