Data Center Multi Skilled Operator II - HVAC & Mechanical Specialist

We are seeking a hands-on Multi-Skilled Operator II – HVAC & Mechanical Specialist to support data center facility operations in Lenoir, NC. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and control systems critical to reliable facility performance.

This is a multi-skilled position requiring a technician who is comfortable working in all aspects of mechanical and HVAC maintenance, including RTUs, package units, cooling towers, refrigeration systems, plumbing, piping, electrical components, and control systems. The ideal candidate is not afraid to get their hands dirty and takes ownership of maintaining safe and reliable facility operations.

Location: On Site in Lenoir, NC

Hours: This position follows a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, consisting of 4 days on and 3 days off, with both day and night shifts required. Flexibility is essential based on client needs and may include evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

HVAC System Oversight and Leadership:

  • Conduct daily HVAC-related maintenance activities, ensuring adherence toschedules,safety, and qualitystandards.
  • Monitor HVAC performance and coordinate troubleshooting effortswith client and fellow team membersto resolve complex issues.
  • Coordinateseasonal HVAC operationssuch aswinterization and peak cooling preparations.
  • Ensuresystem efficiency through performance testing and routinesystem evaluations.

Computer and Reporting Skills:

  • Utilize computer-basedsystems(Maximo, CMMS, Microsoft Office, etc.) to manage work orders, preventive maintenance logs, and HVAC performance data.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of HVAC operations, asset history, and inventory.
  • Create and submit daily progressreportsto client facilitiesengineers

Emergency HVAC Support and On-Call Duties:

  • Serve asa point of escalation for HVAC issuesarising, during yourshift.
  • Coordinate emergency response actionsand communicatestatusupdatesin real-time withsite management.
  • Ensure readinessfor on-call rotationsand critical facilityscenarios.

General Facility Maintenance Support:

  • Perform and oversee minor low-voltage electrical and plumbing work related to HVACsystems.
  • Conduct facility walkthroughs, ensuring the workspace isclean, organized, andsafe.
  • Support broadersite maintenance projectsasneeded, collaborating acrosstrades.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 yearsin HVAC maintenance. Experience in data centersor critical infrastructure preferred.
  • HVAC Certification: Valid HVAC licensure or certification is required. Additional electrical, plumbing, or mechanical certifications are a plus.
  • EPA 608 isrequired.
  • TechnicalSkills: Journeyman-level knowledge in HVAC diagnostics, repair, and preventive care with attention to energy efficiency.
  • Communication: Effective written and verbal communicationskills to engage with clients, vendors, and leadership effectively.
  • ComputerSkills: Basic knowledge in using CMMSplatforms, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to interpret digital HVACsystem controlsand reports.
  • Problem-Solving:Strong ability to assessand resolve complex HVAC and facility issuesquickly.
  • Safety-Oriented: Deep understanding of OSHAstandardsand commitment tosafety in all operations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 40lbs.
  • Ability to climb laddersand multiple flightsofstairsto accesselevated equipment
  • Ability tostand forlong periodsof time in variouswork environments
  • Ability to bend,stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment related tasks
  • Basic physical fitnessto respond quickly to emergencysituationsand navigate areasquickly
  • Ability to move quickly and efficiently withing variouswork environmentsto troubleshoot issuesor respond to emergencies.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working withsmall componentsand connectors
  • Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform tasksrequiring attention to detail and precision while wearingsafety glasses
  • Ability to differentiate between color-coded warningsigns, labels, and cables
  • Ability to work in environmentswith a wide variety temperature inside a facility
  • Ability to work outdoorsin variousweather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, orsnow
  • Capability to work in environmentswith elevated noise levelswhile wearing hearing protection
  • Possession of a valid driver’slicense for work-related travel, asrequired
  • HighSchool Diploma or GED Required

Compensation & Benefits Disclosure
The base pay range for this role is $34.00 - $36.00 per hour. This range reflects a good‑faith estimate of what we reasonably expect to pay upon hire, based on factors such as skills, experience, education, and market/location. Our comprehensive benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, Health Savings Account (HSA), gym discount, mental health, Discounted Group Life & AD&D, Discounted Group Short & Long-term Disability, 401(k) retirement matching, PTO/paid holidays, and parental leave. Final compensation will be determined by job‑related factors consistent with applicable law.
