Function of Position:
DWIGHT/COVE: The Office of Student Life & Leadership Development relies heavily on student workers to provide coverage in the DWIGHT/COVE center on a daily basis. There are many requests by students and staff that are in need. Having our FWS students trained on how to assist the clients is a help to the department staff who have many other tasks they need to focus on.
STUDENT AMBASSADOR: The Office of Student Life and Leadership Development is looking for current MCC students who are responsible and dependable to supplement our efforts in the area of student success and retention. Ambassadors will facilitate the sense of belonging for our students and develop strategies to encourage participation in campus life activities.
This position may be funded through Federal Work Study (FWS) and/or departmental budgetary funds, depending on eligibility and departmental need. Federal Work Study applicants must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to employment consideration. If you are unsure of your FWS eligibility, please contact Financial Aid before applying. Applicants must include their M# in any correspondence with the Financial Aid Office.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
DWIGHT/COVE:
Cover DWIGHT on a daily basis to fill all orders that come in from students in need of food.
Help stock the shelves when we receive food deliveries/orders.
Assist students that need to place orders for DWIGHT or the new Food Lockers.
STUDENT AMBASSADOR:
Engage with clubs and organizations to plan social, cultural, and social events.
Plan and implement fundraising, and civic engagement activities.
Create content for social media platforms. (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
Network with students to promote campus life involvement.
Provide assistance with SLLD Office events (Open House, Student Engagement Ceremony, Leadership Training, and more)
Represent the department as guest speaker in College Orientation classes and other virtual/in person presentations.
Work with clubs and organizations to strategize and implement collaborations.
Assist with transactions, and engagement with student resources such as DWIGHT Food Pantry and Dreamkeepers.
Assist with other duties and tasks related to Student Life and Leadership Development Office.

Pay Rate: $16.00/hour
Hours per Week: Up to 20 hours/week
