Position Summary
The QC Microbiology Lead provides technical leadership for lab operations, ensuring timely, high-quality testing in compliance with regulatory standards. This role leads routine testing, validations, and investigations while driving efficiency and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead microbiological testing, including sample prep, analysis, and documentation
- Review and approve results for compliance with methods and specifications
- Plan and execute validations, including protocols and reports
- Lead/support investigations (CAPAs, deviations, OOS, complaints)
- Oversee lab operations (equipment qualification, calibration, maintenance)
- Train, schedule, and assign work; resolve escalated issues
- Identify and solve complex technical and operational challenges
- Support process improvements and method development
- Manage lab inventory and maintain an inspection-ready environment
Leadership Responsibilities
- Operate at a Level III Microbiology Associate standard
- Understand business priorities and resource impacts
- Proactively solve complex, high-impact problems and provide guidance
- Lead small programs or portions of larger initiatives
- Provide day-to-day oversight, including supervising and reviewing team work
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in a scientific field preferred (HS diploma required)
- 4+ years in microbiology/QC in a regulated environment
- Strong knowledge of microbiology methods, aseptic technique, and GMP
- Experience with validations, investigations, and technical review
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Work Environment
- Lab-based with occasional office/manufacturing exposure
- Standing for extended periods; lift up to 20 lbs
- Exposure to lab chemicals and controlled environments
Pay Range- $30.00-36.00.hr
The targeted range for this role takes into account a range of factors that are considered when making compensation and hiring decisions; included but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
