Key Responsibility

1. Key Responsibility 1: Implement strategies to maximize fundraising and outreach outcomes with a focus on community

engagement, corporate and faith organization partnerships, and special events.

  • Lead and co-lead fundraising events, including planning, promotion, logistics, and sponsorship.
  • Cultivate, steward, and solicit donors, event sponsors, and prospects through targeted appeals, peer-to-peer event campaigns, phone calls, face-to-face meetings and presentations, and email and paper appeals.
  • Manage event planning committees and support event volunteers.
  • Solicit increased event participation and fundraising for special events, including outreach to participants, teams, and local strategic partners.
  • Coordinate community fundraising opportunities through giveback and DIY events.
  • Establish and build community organization and faith community outreach to encourage fundraising and donation drives; schedule presentations and provide necessary information, raise awareness, and recruit event participants and donors.
  • Track and complete administrative tasks that contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of events.
  • Design and deliver event marketing and participant collateral materials.
  • Develop and cultivate strategic media partnerships to support special event goals.
  • Identify, participate, and recruit other agency participants in tabling opportunities at community events, conferences, agency or volunteer fairs, and other related activities.

2. Key Responsibility 2: Implement strategies to maximize donor engagement through fundraising and outreach initiatives

including annual appeal, employee giving, and special events.

  • Assist in the design and creation of development collateral materials such as annual impact report, event-related items, and outreach handouts.
  • Assist with the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, and website.
  • Nurture and cultivate relationships with donors and prospects including recognition and other activities as appropriate.
  • Coordinate expansion of existing planned and monthly giving programs.
  • Analyze donor records to identify prospects for increased giving opportunities and new donors.

3. Key Responsibility 3:. Provide administrative assistance to the development team with a focus on website and social

media management, donor stewardship, and general development support.

  • Assist with the coordination and the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, and website.
  • Conduct on-site facility tours for community partners, funders, and donors.
  • Build and manage stewardship program, including creating and mailing cards and other correspondence, scheduling on-site facility tours, and following-up with in-kind donors.
  • Assist with the website maintenance to optimize its effectiveness in reaching target audiences and provide easily accessed, informative, and persuasive communications.
  • Assist with distribution and create content of e-newsletters.
  • Support with donation processing as needed, supporting the Development Team’s efforts to maintain current and accurate records in donor database.

Other Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in professional associations and activities as necessary and appropriate.
  2. Work effectively with volunteer committees to achieve development objectives.
  3. Support all department fundraising events and campaigns.
  4. Serve as engaged and involved team member, supportive of the varied experiences and perspectives of internal and external constituents.
  5. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience in an outreach or development position, ideally in the nonprofit sector.
  3. Demonstrated ability to use Canva and schedule social media, newsletters, and similar collateral; proven experience performing mail merge processes and spreadsheet functions.
  4. Proficiency in all Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
  5. Enthusiasm for Shelter House mission.
  6. Strong ability to self-manage with significant strength in time management.
  7. Stellar attention-to-detail and organization skills.
  8. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with successful interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with colleagues, donors, and leaders at all levels.
  9. Ability to accurately maintain records, prepare reports, and coordinate multiple projects.
  10. Flexibility in work schedule; occasional evening and weekend hours.
  11. Valid driver’s license and own transportation strongly preferred.

Hours and Schedule:

  • This is a full-time, benefit eligible role.
  • 40+ hours per week
  • Monday - Friday, with a flexible schedule
  • Occasional evening/weekend

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking around.
