Mission Critical Group designs, manufactures and provides value-added services for customers requiring critical power solutions. Powering a new electric world for a brighter, more secure future.

Job Description

The Quality Control/Quality Assurance Inspector verifies that every phase of modular construction aligns with specific client engineering prints and relevant national codes. This position performs precise visual and physical testing from raw structural metal preparation up through complex final electrical system signoffs. The QA/QC Inspector is accountable for ensuring all modular PDC buildings conform strictly to structural, electrical, and coating engineering specifications prior to delivery. Operating under a dual-reporting framework, this role physically sits within the local facility with daily operational oversight managed by the General Manager while reporting directly to the corporate QA/QC Manager to maintain uncompromised, objective testing standards.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

The following list of responsibilities is not all inclusive, additional projects and/or tasks may be assigned to meet operational needs. MCG retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position should operational needs warrant.

  • Inspection & Testing Execution: Perform mandatory visual, dimensional, and technical inspections across all fabrication stagesincluding weld geometry in the structural shop, panel fit-out, paint thickness (DFT), and electrical continuity or insulation (Megger) testing.
  • Non-Conformance & Rework Logging: Identify, tag, and isolate defective materials or improper installations; issue formal Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and collaborate with the Construction Superintendent and trade Foremen to verify correct rework before sign-off.
  • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT): Compile the final project quality books, verify that all components match the master drawings, and co-lead customer-witnessed FAT inspections alongside the Project Manager in the construction yard.
  • Code & Certification Compliance: Audit work shop processes to guarantee full compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), AWS welding standards, and specific state modular building certification requirements.
  • Documentation & Data Upkeep: Coordinate directly with the Design Support Specialist to ensure all as-built drawing modifications, material test reports (MTRs), and testing certificates are properly filed and archived.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge/Experience:

  • 5+ years of quality inspection experience inside heavy steel manufacturing, commercial building fabrication, or industrial electrical assembly hubs.
  • High proficiency in using precision measurement systems, thickness gauges, and electrical diagnostic testers.
  • Advanced blueprint reading skills across structural, mechanical, and multi-layered electrical diagrams

Preferred Experience

  • Active certification as an AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or specialized electrical test credentials.
  • Prior experience managing high-tier industrial client personnel during complex Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) windows.

Physical Requirements

  • Continuous physical inspection work involving bending, climbing into framing, and assessing overhead tracks.
  • Ability to enter confined equipment spaces safely to check hidden electrical or panel joints.
  • Visual acuity matching industrial standards for high-precision structural weld and color checks.

Success Measures

  • Zero quality escape items or specification failures reaching the clients deployment site.
  • Speed and precision in documenting, resolving, and closing open Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Complete, audit-ready data verification packages completed prior to scheduled FAT dates.
