Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Porter / Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and sanitation of residential units, offices, community facilities, and common areas. This position ensures apartments, rooms, and community spaces are properly cleaned and prepared for occupancy while providing support with donations, community events, and general property upkeep.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Clean and prepare shelter units between occupancies, ensuring spaces are move-in ready.
· Wash, dry, fold, and distribute linens, sheets, blankets, and towels as needed.
· Clean and sanitize bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, and common areas.
· Maintain cleanliness of community rooms, meeting spaces, laundry facilities, and common areas.
· Clean office interiors and exteriors, including floors, windows, furniture, restrooms, and break areas.
· Remove trash and debris from all common areas and grounds.
· Assist with organizing, setting out, displaying, and distributing donated items and community resources.
· Support community events by setting up and breaking down tables, chairs, and equipment.
· Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and perform other routine housekeeping duties.
· Monitor cleaning supply inventory and notify supervisor when replenishment is needed.
· Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and repair needs to appropriate staff.
· Follow all safety procedures regarding cleaning chemicals, equipment, and personal protective equipment.
· Operate cleaning equipment including vacuums, floor buffers, and power washers as assigned.
· Maintain a professional and courteous manner with visitors, occupants, staff, and vendors.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL / WORK EXPERIENCE:
· High school diploma or GED preferred.
· Relevant housekeeping, janitorial, or custodial training preferred.
SKILLS REQUIREMENT:
· Knowledge of cleaning methods, sanitation practices, and chemical safety procedures.
· Strong customer service and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
· Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
· Experience working with diverse populations.
LICENSES AND REQUIREMENTS
· Valid Arizona driver's license, dependable transportation, and proof of insurance preferred.
· Ability to obtain and maintain a Fingerprint Clearance Card, if required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and reach for extended periods.
· Ability to lift and carry up to 50-60 pounds.
· Ability to climb ladders and work in indoor and outdoor environments.
· Ability to operate housekeeping and janitorial equipment safely.
