SKILLED LABOURER
JOB POSTING
WEEKEND SHIFTThe Skilled Labourer reports directly to the Foreman and Plant Manager in this full-time role based at our manufacturing facility in Louis Creek, B.C.
This position builds on general shop floor labour and includes a higher level of responsibility for material flow, staging, loading, shrink wrapping, and production support. The Skilled Labourer helps keep the shop moving by supporting key workstations, preparing materials, and assisting with remaining bottlenecks in production.
Note: Weekend Shift: Enjoy a condensed work schedule. This position works Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 12 hours per day. Employees who complete all three full shifts receive 40 paid hours for the weekend.
- Operate and care for construction equipment, tools, machinery, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
- Complete swap deck loading, including organizing, staging, and preparing materials or finished components for movement.
- Complete shrink wrapping duties to protect finished materials and prepare product for storage, transfer, or shipping.
- Reload and stage materials at stations to keep production moving and reduce downtime for other team members.
- Support material flow by preparing, moving, sorting, and staging lumber, panels, components, and other shop materials as required.
- Support daily shop floor production, including wood framing, material handling, panel/component assembly, and general manufacturing support.
- Read and follow basic production instructions, labels, measurements, drawings, and direction from the Foreman or Plant Manager.
- Monitor material flow and communicate shortages, delays, quality concerns, or production issues to the Foreman or Plant Manager.
- Assess material quality, labels, staging, and completed work to support production standards.
- Use remaining time to help debottleneck the shop by jumping into priority areas where support is needed.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, including staging zones, material areas, equipment areas, and walkways.
- Follow safe work procedures, use appropriate PPE, and contribute to a positive safety culture.
- Manufacturing, factory, construction, wood framing, or material handling experience is preferred.
- Wood framing construction knowledge and experience is considered an asset.
- Forklift ticket is an asset.
- Ability to read and follow construction drawings, measurements, labels, and production instructions is an asset.
- Comfortable using shop tools, equipment, and production systems as trained.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately and efficiently.
- Ability to physically perform construction and manufacturing-related tasks, including lifting, standing, bending, and moving materials throughout the shift.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with Foremen, operators, labourers, and production staff.
- Self-starter who can identify what needs to be done and help move work forward without constant direction.
- Strong time management, multitasking, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
- Reliable, safety-minded, and comfortable working under pressure to support production timelines.
- Work is performed in a manufacturing and shop environment.
- The role includes hands-on production work, material movement, loading, staging, shrink wrapping, and general shop support.
- Work may involve exposure to loud noises, dust, moving equipment, and other construction or manufacturing-related hazards.
- Some driving, deliveries, or occasional site support may be required for varying periods of time.
- Work and travel may occur in varying weather conditions.
- Weekend Shift: Work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 12 hours per day. Complete the full weekend
schedule and be paid for 40 total hours.
- $24.00 - $28.00 per hour, based on experience and skill level.
