Our Game Plan

The New York Islanders Hockey Club is one of the most iconic franchises in professional sports, with a deeply passionate and loyal fan base that is second to none. Built on a Dynasty in the 1980’s with four straight Stanley Cup Championships and 19 consecutive playoff series wins, our history has defined a legacy that remains untouched in professional sports. That legacy inspires us to leave our mark in the sports, entertainment, and cultural landscape.

In 2021, the New York Islanders moved to our new permanent home, UBS Arena. This state-of-the-art venue, which was built for hockey and made for music, is nestled within the historic Belmont Park – a storied landmark of New York. UBS Arena features best in class facilities and amenities, including premium suites, clubs, and lounges that offer boutique hospitality to elevate the guest experience. UBS Arena is part of a larger redevelopment project at Belmont Park, which aims to transform the area into a vibrant entertainment destination with the opening of Belmont Park Village in 2024 and the new Belmont Park Racetrack in 2026.

How to Make the Team

We’re searching for dynamic, high-energy, and talented performers to join the New York Islanders Energy Team!

As a member of our Team, you’ll be the heartbeat of fan energy at Islanders home games, community events, watch parties, and special appearances. Whether you’re delivering athletic, impactful, fast-paced performances, hyping up the crowd with unmatched positivity, or creating an unforgettable game night experience, you’ll be part of a team that lives to entertain.

If you have a great attitude, want to work with a legendary sports organization, bring endless positive energy, love making people smile, or are simply known as “the life of the party,” we want to hear from you! Join us in representing a premier sports organization and help elevate the atmosphere for one of the NHL’s most passionate fanbases.

All applicants must be at least 18 years old and within driving distance of the New York Metro. All positions are part time, but those selected must be able to attend all rehearsals and the majority of Islanders home games during the 2026-27 season.

Who is the Energy Team?

• Introducing the official hype team for Isles Nation—the ultimate team motivators, performers, and energy drivers behind the game-day experience!
• This high-impact group is dedicated to elevating the fan experience through infectious energy, crowd engagement, and unforgettable in-game moments. As dynamic ambassadors of the New York Islanders, they bring enthusiasm, confidence, athleticism, and personality that embody the spirit of Isles Nation.
• We are seeking diverse, experienced entertainers—dancers, breakers, tumblers, cheerleaders, and high-energy performers who bring confidence, high energy, and athleticism to represent the New York Islanders as standout ambassadors.

Your Training & Talent

• Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid ID
• Must reside or be willing to commute to the Nassau County, Long Island area and have a reliable means of transportation
• Must be extremely outgoing, willing to interact with Islanders Fans of all ages at every game and community appearance, and comfortable in front of large crowds
• Must be able to think creatively, react responsibly and contribute positively to a team environment
• Must have a flexible schedule to attend games (weeknights and weekends- including playoffs), all rehearsals, and holidays as required. Must arrive at least three hours prior to the start of each game and work through the completion of the game

Things to Know

• If selected for the team, a one-year contract and commitment are required, along with agreement to abide by rules and regulations in the employee handbook
• The role is a part-time seasonal position and team members are paid for all work. This includes, rehearsals, game days, appearances, photoshoots, meetings, etc.
• The Energy Team’s primary purpose is to welcome and energize fans with their energetic, outgoing personality, and cheerful spirit. Team members help drive fan engagement by participating in pre-game and post-game performances, execute interactive promotions, selection of contestants for contests, assist in pre-game & post-game activations, t-shirt prep and leading tosses, enhance the production and execution of promotions during games through elevating in-game entertainment, and consistently working together as true team players

  • Kip Up, Headspring, Double/Triple Pirouette, Hand hops/windmills, standing tuck/specialty tumbling pass to tuck/layout/full, etc.

Fill Out an Application

Applications can be submitted at this link beginning on June 15th up until July 9th at 12 a.m. ET. All candidates who pass the initial application phase will be notified with the next steps via email.

Video Submission (Optional)

Submit a 90-second video through a Google Drive link giving a brief introduction of yourself and skills highlight. Get creative! Tell us why you want to be a part of this team. Show us your talents. Just a remember to set your sharing settings to ‘Anyone with the link’ before submitting.

Your submission has two parts. Here are the instructions (Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed):

1. Application submission link, which will include:

• Video submission must not exceed 90 seconds. All recorded material should be recent.
• 30 second Introduction: We want to see your personality!
  • Full name, age, hometown, what makes you unique?
• 60 seconds skills highlight reel
  • Show us your talents! (i.e. Freestyle, breaking, tumbling – highest level of standing/running tumbling pass)

For applicants who are not traditional performers:
We still want to see your energy and presence! Instead of technical choreography or tumbling, showcase:

• Crowd engagement and hype ability
• Athletic movement, sports performance, or stage presence
• Confidence, charisma, and how you command attention in a live environment
• Any relevant skills that demonstrate your ability to energize a crowd

We are looking for infectious personalities, dynamic performers, and natural motivators who can bring Isles Nation to life every time they step in front of a crowd.

2. Video Location

• Make the best of your filming environment, even if it's just your home or backyard. Keep backgrounds uncluttered so we can focus on you. When filming tumbling, stick to surfaces like grass, basketball courts, or dance floors. Avoid spring floors if you're tumbling.

3. Video Technical Requirements

• Please only submit one video file, not multiple. Video must be continuous and NOT EDITED TOGETHER
• Video must be new, created only for this audition, and not previously recorded
• Title the video with first and last name – 2026-27

You may be asked to demonstrate skills at in-person audition. Please come prepared.

Non-tumblers are still encouraged to apply.

Attire

• New York Islanders colored athletic apparel (Blue & Orange)
• Bottoms may be leggings, shorts, or joggers (no jeans)
• Refrain from heavily logoed attire or distracting patterns
• Sneakers
