About Holbrook Auto Parts
Holbrook Auto Parts has served the Detroit area for more than 75 years, providing new and used auto parts through multiple locations. We’re known for our extensive inventory, knowledgeable team, customer service, and commitment to sustainability through recycled auto parts.
Position Summary
Holbrook Auto Parts is seeking a confident, results-oriented Quality Control Leader to guide our quality processes and team. This person will help ensure that salvaged vehicles and parts are inspected, documented, identified, and matched accurately for resale, recycling, or disposal.
The ideal candidate has a background in quality control and the leadership presence to set clear expectations, coach employees, and address issues directly. Automotive experience is helpful, but not required. Experience in manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, or another hands-on operation may transfer well.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead, coach, and hold team members accountable for following quality standards and procedures.
• Oversee inspections of incoming and outgoing salvage vehicles and parts for condition, functionality, damage, defects, compatibility, and potential safety concerns.
• Ensure parts are correctly identified, stock numbers are visible, and records match the items being inspected.
• Oversee the timely and accurate entry of inspection notes, photos, and other details in EZ QC and related systems.
• Confirm that parts selected for work orders match the required part numbers and vehicle specifications.
• Coordinate with Sales when a part is flagged, ensuring it is held as needed and the issue is clearly communicated for customer follow-up.
• Provide timely, clear feedback about part condition, suitability, and quality concerns.
• Review inspection and operational data to identify error patterns, rework, returns, and opportunities to improve.
• Investigate recurring issues, identify root causes, and follow through on corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain inspection procedures, checklists, training materials, and documentation.
• Train employees on inspection methods, documentation, safe work practices, and quality expectations.
• Conduct routine audits and communicate quality results and improvement needs to leadership.
• Partner with Sales and other teams to improve part accuracy, customer satisfaction, and operational consistency.
Qualifications
• Experience in quality control, quality assurance, inspection, or process improvement.
• Experience leading, coaching, or supervising employees; strong leadership potential may also be considered.
• Confident communication style and the ability to set expectations, address concerns, and gain cooperation.
• Results-oriented and comfortable using data to track performance and guide decisions.
• Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify root causes and recommend practical solutions.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
• Basic computer skills and experience with inventory, inspection, or quality tracking systems.
• Ability to work in a hands-on, fast-paced environment and spend time on the floor or in the yard.
• Automotive parts, salvage, or EZ QC experience is a plus, but not required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license required.
Physical Requirements
This position involves standing and walking for extended periods, along with bending, stooping, reaching, and moving around a salvage yard or warehouse. The ability to lift and move parts weighing up to 50 pounds is required. Safe use of hand tools and material-handling equipment may also be needed.
Benefits
• Health, dental, and vision insurance
• Life insurance
• 401(k)
• Paid time off
What Success Looks Like
• Employees understand and consistently follow inspection and documentation standards.
• Parts are identified, photographed, recorded, and matched accurately.
• Quality issues are communicated quickly and addressed before they affect customers or operations.
• Leaders can use clear data to see performance trends and improvement needs.
• Corrective actions lead to measurable reductions in errors, rework, and preventable customer concerns.
