Position SummaryStonewall County Hospital District is seeking a dependable, motivated, and hardworking Maintenance Technician / Groundskeeper to join our Facilities Team. This position is responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, appearance, and overall condition of district-owned facilities and grounds, including the hospital, rural health clinic, long-term care facility, and other properties.
The ideal candidate will have experience in general maintenance and groundskeeping, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing excellent service in a healthcare environment. This role is essential to ensuring our patients, residents, visitors, and staff experience a safe, clean, and welcoming environment every day.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesFacility Maintenance- Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair facility issues, including leaks, faulty lighting, electrical outlets, doors, locks, and equipment.
- Complete assigned maintenance work orders in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assist with painting, carpentry, remodeling projects, and general building repairs.
- Inspect facilities and equipment regularly to identify maintenance needs and potential safety concerns.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance areas in a clean and organized condition.
- Document maintenance activities and repairs performed.
- Maintain the appearance of hospital district grounds and outdoor facilities.
- Operate lawn care equipment, including mowers, trimmers, edgers, and other groundskeeping tools.
- Perform mowing, trimming, edging, planting, watering, and seasonal landscaping activities.
- Remove debris and maintain sidewalks, parking lots, entrances, and outdoor spaces.
- Assist with storm cleanup and other grounds maintenance needs as required.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and address identified concerns.
- Follow all facility safety procedures, infection control guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure buildings and grounds remain safe and accessible for patients, residents, staff, and visitors.
- Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities as assigned.

Requirements: Qualifications- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience in building maintenance, repair, facilities management, groundskeeping, or a related field preferred.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general maintenance systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve a variety of facility-related issues.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb ladders, and perform manual labor.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to safely operate maintenance and landscaping equipment.
- Regular work schedule is Monday through Friday.
- Must be available to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours maintenance emergencies as needed.
- Occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required to address urgent facility needs, special projects, weather-related events, or emergency situations.
- Flexibility and reliability are essential to ensure hospital district facilities remain safe, functional, and operational at all times.
