Communications Coordinator

Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Department: External Affairs
Employment Type: Regular Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Travel: Periodic travel throughout the Yukon-Kuskokwim region

Help Tell the Donlin Gold Story

Donlin Gold is seeking a Communications Coordinator to support digital communications, stakeholder outreach, community engagement, and content development initiatives.

In this role, you will help manage website and social media content, create communication materials, coordinate outreach activities, and ensure information is accurate, timely, accessible, and culturally appropriate. You will work closely with internal teams, regional communities, and project stakeholders to strengthen relationships and enhance understanding of Donlin Gold’s activities.

What You’ll Do

  • Update and maintain website content and other digital communication resources.
  • Draft, schedule, and publish social media content.
  • Monitor communication channels and assist with responding to stakeholder inquiries.
  • Create and update graphics, presentations, newsletters, reports, fact sheets, and other outreach materials.
  • Support photo selection, image organization, and light photo editing.
  • Ensure communication materials follow established branding and visual standards.
  • Assist with community meetings, presentations, outreach events, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Develop communication materials that are culturally appropriate and relevant to Yukon-Kuskokwim audiences.
  • Support community investment initiatives, sponsorships, and community partnerships.
  • Help maintain positive relationships with Tribal organizations, Native corporations, community leaders, shareholders, and regional residents.
  • Track communication activities, analytics, records, and stakeholder engagement information.
  • Travel throughout the Yukon-Kuskokwim region as needed.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Alaska Native Studies, Community Development, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong written, verbal, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software.
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, cultural awareness, and relationship-building skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to meet company driving requirements.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Yukon-Kuskokwim region.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Experience living or working in the Yukon-Kuskokwim region.
  • Strong understanding of the region’s communities, cultures, traditions, and communication preferences.
  • Established community connections within the region.
  • Fluency in Yup’ik.
  • Experience in community relations, stakeholder engagement, communications, outreach, public affairs, or external affairs.
  • Experience working with Alaska Native organizations, Tribal governments, Native corporations, or community-based organizations.
  • Experience managing websites, social media platforms, or digital communications.
  • Experience creating graphics, photography, visual content, or other digital media.
