Overview

SHD Composite Materials Inc. was incorporated in August 2018 to service the expanding American and Canadian composite industries. The North American HQ is in Mooresville, North Carolina, and became a fully operational manufacturing facility in 2019.

SHD Composite Materials Inc. manufactures advanced composite prepreg. With a growing global presence, the company services the American prepreg market with high-quality prepreg, fast turnaround times, and world-class technical support.

The company’s core strength is the ability to supply high- and low-volume products, with a wide range of tooling and component products throughout America and around the world.

The purpose of this role is to efficiently and accurately assist with the smooth running of the production department while creating and maintaining the production schedule.

Ideal Person

Either a proven production planner or a person with prior experience in production scheduling, production administration, manufacturing coordination, inventory support, or shop-floor planning with a willingness to learn. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, quality-minded, comfortable working with production information, and able to communicate effectively with production, operations, and internal support teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety / Quality / Compliance

• Always adhere to company Health & Safety procedures, including external compliance such as OSHA.

• Work to company quality standards, including AS9100 requirements and production tolerances, by keeping full traceability of all materials and processes being carried out.

• Maintain the highest standard of cleanliness and tidiness at all times.

Production Scheduling / Planning

• Develop, prepare, and maintain production schedules to guide production toward maximum efficiency while meeting output requirements and customer timelines.

• Gather data from internal teams to incorporate materials, inventories, resource availability, and delivery commitments into production schedules.

• Monitor daily production results and revise scheduling when necessary.

• Assist with the smooth running of the production department by maintaining accurate, timely, and organized production planning information.

Production Administration / Paperwork

• Control all production paperwork prior to the day of manufacture, including raw materials and resin ordering requirements.

• Maintain accurate production records, scheduling updates, paperwork, and related documentation needed to support traceability and production flow.

• Learn and use the Progress Plus computer software needed for production planning and production, closing work orders.

Team Coordination / Operational Support

• Develop a close working relationship with all members of the Production Team to collectively support ownership of the shop floor.

• Communicate scheduling changes, material needs, and production priorities clearly to relevant internal team members.

• Undertake and perform other production-planning, production-administration, manufacturing-support, or operational duties as assigned and needed.

Role Boundaries

• This position is focused on production planning, production scheduling, production paperwork, internal coordination, traceability support, and manufacturing department administration.

• This role does not have direct reports.

• Questions requiring broader production authority, staffing decisions, or final production management direction should be routed through the Production Manager or appropriate internal stakeholder.

• Must have flexibility and adaptability for changing workloads.

• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

• Attention to detail is a must.

• Must have excellent organization and time-management skills.

• Ability to operate Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, and other computer programs.

• Must be able to learn and use Progress Plus and other production-related computer systems as needed.

• Must be quality-minded.

• Must be able to use standard office equipment.

• Must be able to use manufacturing equipment of varying types when required.

• Must be able to use email professionally and frequently.

• Must possess the ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.

• Must be able to work independently and be self-directed.

• Must be able to work as part of a team.

Work Environment / Essential Physical Demands

• Ability to perform physical work for extended periods of time when required.

• Must be able to work weekends and overtime if required.

• Must be able to use hands and fingers for fine manipulation and keyboarding as needed.

• Ability to frequently bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and reach.

• Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per day if required.

• Ability to sit for up to 8 hours per day as part of the normal job duties.

• Ability to frequently push and pull items up to 105 lbs using lifting equipment.

• Ability to safely, effectively, and reliably receive and give urgent and other essential communications in a factory environment.

• Ability to detect abnormalities in the process and receive safety signals using visual, tactile, or auditory senses.

• Must be able to follow all safety and company policies and procedures.

• Must be able to wear all required PPE.

• Must be able to work in a typical manufacturing environment on concrete floors.

• Must be able to work short time periods in cold temperatures.
