Job Summary
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, overseeing, and coordinating maintenance activities. Their efforts are to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and maximize maintenance efficiency. This role works closely with maintenance technicians, production, and storeroom personnel to ensure work is properly scoped, prioritized, scheduled, and documented.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and oversee preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and corrective work orders
- Build weekly and daily maintenance schedules based on production priorities and labor availability
- Ensure maintenance works orders contain detailed job plans, labor estimates, parts requirements, permits, and safety procedures
- Coach and develop maintenance technicians assigned to line with assistance from the Assistant Maintenance Manager
- Coordinate and supervise planned shutdowns, line changeovers, and maintenance windows
- Maintain work order backlog management and prioritize based on risk and operational impact
- Update score card, cannibalization log, and countermeasures before MP&S meeting
- Collaborate with storeroom to optimize/maintain critical spare parts availability
- Stand in as tertiary backup line lead and secondary process lead in event of their absence
- Complete any other assigned work by direct supervisor
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required
- Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Technical experience in maintenance, manufacturing, engineering or equivalent experience in developing and implementing resource efficiency
- Must have the ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Ability to work in a self-directed manner and provide directions to others
- Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvements and assist with implementing them
- Computer skills and knowledge of various CMMS software
