Steel Detailing Project Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Steel Detailing Project Manager based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to lead complex steel detailing projects from initial planning through final delivery. You’ll bring advanced Tekla Structures expertise and strong project management skills to ensure precision, quality, and timely execution. Working closely with engineers, architects, fabricators, and clients, you’ll coordinate technical requirements and keep projects moving efficiently. You’ll oversee schedules, RFIs, change orders, detailing activities, and project priorities while maintaining high standards throughout the process. Your leadership will help create a collaborative, accountable environment where teams can perform effectively under demanding deadlines. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced steel professional looking to make a meaningful impact in a remote, technology-enabled environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead steel detailing projects through all phases, from initial planning and coordination to final delivery, ensuring projects remain aligned with scope, quality, schedule, and client expectations.
  • Apply advanced Tekla Structures expertise to guide design and detailing activities, ensuring accurate and fabrication-ready project deliverables.
  • Collaborate closely with structural engineers, architects, fabricators, and other project stakeholders to coordinate technical requirements and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, monitor milestones, coordinate priorities, and ensure work progresses according to established deadlines.
  • Manage RFIs, change orders, technical clarifications, and project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate and support detailing, fabrication, and assembly activities while ensuring alignment with architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment, particularly when managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through clear communication, proactive problem-solving, and consistent delivery of high-quality project outcomes.
Requirements
  • 3–5 years of project management experience in steel detailing, structural steel construction, or a closely related field.
  • Advanced proficiency with Tekla Structures and the ability to apply the software effectively across complex steel detailing projects.
  • Strong knowledge of structural and miscellaneous steel construction, including the ability to interpret and work confidently with fabrication drawings.
  • Relevant diploma, certificate, or equivalent practical work experience in a related technical or construction discipline.
  • Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, coordination, RFIs, change orders, and delivery processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers, architects, fabricators, clients, and internal teams.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and a consistent focus on precision, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Benefits
  • Competitive annual salary of $85,000–$100,000, based on skills, experience, and contributions.
  • Annual bonus opportunities linked to individual and organizational performance.
  • Comprehensive benefits designed to support health and overall well-being.
  • RRSP employer matching contributions to support long-term financial planning.
  • Generous personal days to promote flexibility, balance, and time away from work.
  • Professional development opportunities, including training, mentorship, and career-growth pathways.
  • Remote work environment with modern, technology-focused company-provided equipment.
  • Collaborative culture centered on respect, teamwork, and appreciation.
  • Regular team-building activities and events designed to strengthen collaboration and connection.
