Position Title: CNA / Health Unit Coordinator - Surgical Center PACU (1.0 FTE)

Description

Wage Range: $26.16 - $41.82 per hour

Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.

Job Summary
Responsible for assisting the RN in various duties to ensure smooth patient flow in the all peri-anesthesia areas. Performs tasks involving direct and indirect patient care, treatment, transportation, and various clerical tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Primary Duties

  1. Performs patient care procedures in compliance with EvergreenHealths policies, protocols and procedures and within the scope of CNA (certified nursing assistant) license.
  2. Assists in the pre-operative and post-operative care activities under the direction of the RN.
  3. Documents patient care given, observations, vital signs and intake and output in electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  4. Assists in transporting patients to and from the perianesthesia areas.
  5. Completes point of care testing as assigned by an RN and reports results promptly.
  6. Ensures minimum level of patient care, office, nutritional, and equipment supplies are stocked and obtains additional supplies as needed.
  7. Communicates the patients status and anticipated time of discharge to families or escorts who are in the waiting room or over the phone.
  8. Provides other clerical support, including backing-up the HUC role.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

License, Certification, Education or Experience:

REQUIREDfor the position:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current certification as a Nursing Assistant in the State of Washington
  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS American Heart Association by start date
  • Must have oral and written language skills, visual and listening skills in order to communicate and ensure delivery of safe patient care
  • Must demonstrate ability to apply knowledge of basic patient care techniques and
  • Must have the ability to be self-directed within his/her scope of practice
  • Must be able to lift, turn, transfer, and position patients and move/lift heavy equipment/supplies
  • Current EKG Certification or training within 6 months of hire date


DESIREDfor the position:

  • One year of related experience in a similar setting.
