Position Overview:
Administers basic and advanced life support to sick and injured persons in pre-hospital and interfacility setting as directed by local protocols and physician orders. Assesses nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed or need for additional assistance. Transports sick and injured persons to or between hospitals or other appropriate treatment facilities. Maintains a good working relationship with hospital staff, public safety agencies and the community.Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements- Graduate of an accredited Paramedic education program.
- Unrestricted license to practice as a Paramedic (PARA) in the State of Colorado, or ability to obtain prior to start date
- Current driver license, or ability to obtain prior to start date, with minimum 3 years of driving experience and acceptable MVR.
- Basic Life Support (BLS). May be obtained upon hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Preferred Qualifications
- Colorado Critical Care Paramedic endorsement preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Job Details:
Duties and Responsibilities- Performs assessment for and delivery of emergency medical care to patients at a Paramedic level during ambulance responses and interfacility transfers.
- Operates vehicles and equipment safely and effectively.
- Works collaboratively with EMTs and other members of the patient care team.
- Maintains accurate and timely medical reports, charges, and logs including: ambulance report, ambulance run log, and vehicle log.
- Performs functions of a medical/nursing assistance nature at the direction of physicians in assigned areas within the certified capability of the Paramedic.
- Arranges patient transfer via ground or air from Aspen Valley Hospital to other receiving facilities upon notification by hospital staff.
- Maintains ambulance and associated equipment in constant state of readiness to include cleaning, inventory and maintenance checks as per the appropriate check-off lists.
- Assists with maintenance and cleaning of Aspen Ambulance District building, quarters, and bays.
- Assists in department planning and offers suggestions for improvement of operations and equipment.
- Orients students or new EMTs to ambulance and hospital operations.
- Assists in coordination of continuing education and recertification of hospital employed EMTs and nurses when possible.
- Maintains competency to perform advanced procedures and administer medications as permitted by state-approved scope of practice waivers.
- Safely operates motor vehicles, including emergency vehicles, cars, trucks, and vans.
- May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
- May be eligible for voluntary on-call shifts in addition to the regular schedule.
- Ensures developmentally and medically appropriate care for all patient populations and age groups.
- Adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and established procedures to ensure a safe, compliant, and ethical work environment.

About Aspen Ambulance District:
Aspen Ambulance is a hospital-based EMS system operated by Aspen Valley Health serving approximately 640 square miles including the City of Aspen and surrounding communities of Pitkin County. We respond to approximately 1,400 911 calls and 200 inter facility transfers each year, providing emergency response, critical care transport, and special event medical coverage.
Daily operations are staffed with two 24-hour ALS 911 ambulances and one on-call ALS inter facility transport unit, utilizing Paramedic/Paramedic and Paramedic/EMT crew configurations.
Full-time employees work 24-hour shifts beginning at 7:00 a.m. on a 48-on/120-off schedule, while PRN employees commit to a minimum of 72 hours per month. Overtime is paid for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
Providers practice under progressive protocols that include joint reductions, RSI/MAAM, prehospital whole blood administration, ketamine, simple thoracostomy, and arterial line monitoring, supported by advanced equipment including the ZOLL X Series Advanced, ZOLL AutoPulse, and Hamilton T1 ventilator
