About the RoleThe Guest Room Attendant is one of the most important members of our hotel team.
Our guests may interact with many people during their stay, but the condition of their room often creates one of their strongest impressions of the hotel.
As a Guest Room Attendant, you will be responsible for creating a clean, comfortable, welcoming, and memorable environment for every guest who walks through the door.
This is more than making beds and cleaning rooms.
It is about noticing the details.
It is about taking pride in your work.
And it is about knowing that the room you prepare may be welcoming a prospective VCU student, a family visiting campus, a business traveler, a wedding guest, an alumnus returning to Richmond, or someone experiencing our city for the first time.

What You'll DoCreate Guest Rooms That ShineClean and prepare assigned guest rooms according to Graduate by Hilton and hotel standards
Make beds neatly and consistently
Clean and sanitize bathrooms, showers, sinks, fixtures, and guest amenities
Dust furniture, surfaces, artwork, lighting, and room features
Vacuum carpets and clean flooring
Remove trash and used linens
Replenish towels, toiletries, coffee supplies, and other guest room amenities
Ensure every room is properly staged and ready for guest arrival
Complete a final visual inspection before leaving each room

Our Guest Room Attendants are expected to notice the things others may overlook.
Check rooms carefully for cleanliness and presentation
Ensure amenities and supplies are properly positioned
Identify damaged, missing, or malfunctioning items
Report maintenance concerns promptly
Report lost and found items according to hotel procedures
Communicate unusual room conditions or guest concerns to leadership
Help ensure every guest receives a consistent experience regardless of room number or length of stay
Follow all sanitation, chemical-handling, and safety procedures
Use cleaning products and equipment properly
Maintain an organized and safe housekeeping cart
Properly handle guest linens, trash, and cleaning supplies
Follow hotel procedures for entering occupied guest rooms
Maintain awareness of guest privacy and security
Help maintain clean and organized housekeeping and service areas
Great hotels are built by teams that support one another.
Communicate effectively with housekeeping leadership
Partner with the Front Desk to support room readiness
Communicate maintenance concerns to Engineering
Assist teammates when business levels require additional support
Help create a positive and respectful work environment
Participate in daily meetings, training, and hotel initiatives
Be willing to step in and support the department during high-occupancy periods, special events, and busy weekends

Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience is helpful but not required
Ability to follow instructions and hotel cleaning standards
Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership
Strong attention to detail
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Ability to work independently
Ability to work efficiently within established productivity expectations
Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift
Ability to lift and move housekeeping supplies, linens, and equipment as needed
Ability to work weekends and holidays based on hotel business needs
Previous hotel or hospitality housekeeping experience
Experience in a full-service hotel environment
Familiarity with Hilton or Graduate hotel standards
Previous experience with hotel room-management or housekeeping systems
Strong guest-service skills
Bilingual or multilingual communication skills are a plus
Previous experience working in a high-volume hotel is beneficial
Hospitality never looks exactly the same from one day to the next.
Full-time and part-time opportunities may be available
Daytime shifts
Weekend availability required
Holiday availability required
Schedule may vary based on hotel occupancy, university events, conventions, weddings, and other business demand
Additional hours may be available during high-demand periods
