Job Description

Description:

Precision Healthcare Specialists is seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and motivated Physician Assistant (PA) to join our colorectal surgery team. The PA will work closely with our colorectal surgeons to provide comprehensive care to patients throughout the continuum of treatment, including office visits, pre-operative and post-operative care, and ongoing follow-up.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical specialty, have strong clinical and communication skills, and be able to work independently while collaborating closely with physicians and the healthcare team.


Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and manage patients in the outpatient colorectal surgery setting.
  • Obtain comprehensive medical histories and perform physical examinations.
  • Assess patient conditions and develop appropriate treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising physician.
  • Assist with pre-operative and post-operative patient management.
  • Provide post-operative follow-up care and monitor patient recovery.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, procedures, and follow-up care.
  • Order and interpret appropriate laboratory tests, imaging, and diagnostic studies.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments within the scope of licensure and practice.
  • Perform appropriate office-based procedures within the PA's training, experience, and scope of practice.
  • Recognize changes in patient condition and determine when physician evaluation or additional intervention is needed.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, surgical facilities, and other members of the care team.
  • Coordinate patient care with hospitals, surgery centers, primary care providers, and other specialists as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Review diagnostic results and communicate findings and recommendations to patients.
  • Assist with surgical and procedural care as appropriate to training and practice needs.
  • Respond to patient questions and concerns in a professional and compassionate manner.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, clinical policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement and other practice initiatives as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Current Physician Assistant (PA-C) certification and state licensure required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current NCCPA certification.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • DEA registration or eligibility to obtain.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced specialty practice.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard computer applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in colorectal surgery, general surgery, gastroenterology, or another surgical specialty.
  • Experience with pre-operative and post-operative patient management.
  • Experience assisting with surgical procedures.
  • Experience performing office-based procedures.
  • Familiarity with colorectal conditions and surgical treatment.
  • Previous experience working in a hospital, ambulatory surgery center, or specialty practice.
What We're Looking For

We are looking for a PA who is confident, compassionate, dependable, and clinically strong, with the ability to build relationships with patients while working closely with our colorectal surgeons.

A candidate with direct colorectal experience would be ideal, but we would also consider a strong general surgery or other surgical PA who has the clinical foundation and willingness to learn the specialty.
