Identified structural flaws and strategized comprehensive job description overhaul

Before the rewrite, here's what's broken in this one specifically — some issues carry over from the Superintendent posting, but this one has several unique problems:

  • "Moves, ads, and changes" is a typo of the industry term "Moves, Adds, and Changes" (MACs) — a standard low voltage/IT operations term. Leaving it as "ads" in a published posting signals sloppiness to the exact technical candidates you're targeting.
  • The certifications section is the worst in any posting you've shown me. "Level 1 OJT," "L2 Installer OJT & coursework," "BICSI certified Tech" — these are internal shorthand descriptions of BICSI's certification ladder, not the actual cert names. A candidate reading this doesn't know if these are three separate certifications or one certification described three different ways. Neither will LinkedIn's or Indeed's skills-matching algorithm.
  • Requirements again mix duties with qualifications — "Follow project processes while ensuring timeline commitments are met" is not a qualification. It's the job description.
  • The Foreman/Superintendent distinction is unclear from this posting alone. A candidate who finds this without seeing your Superintendent posting has no idea where Foreman sits in your hierarchy, what it leads to, or how it differs from a Lead Technician.
  • No location anywhere in this posting — not in the title, not in the opening, not in requirements. For a field role tied to a physical jobsite, this is a significant SEO and conversion problem.
  • No opening hook. The job summary is 100% employer-centric again.

Brackets indicate items you need to fill in before publishing.

Character count: 158 ✓

OPTIMIZED JOB DESCRIPTIONOpening Hook

LINX is hiring a Low Voltage Foreman to lead crews on hyperscale data center and commercial construction projects in [PRIMARY MARKET/REGION]. This is a working foreman role — you know the work from the ground up, you can train technicians to do it right, and you're ready to own the daily execution of complex structured cabling and fiber scopes on large, fast-moving jobsites.

You'll report to the Project Manager and serve as the primary field leader on your assigned projects — the person who makes sure the crew is productive, the materials are staged, the quality is right, and the customer sees a professional operation every day.

Pay: $30.00–$38.00/hour based on experience.

Where This Role Fits at LINX

LINX runs a clear field leadership ladder: Technician → Lead Technician → Foreman → Superintendent → Project Manager. This role is the critical bridge between hands-on installation and project-level leadership. Foremen at LINX who perform well move into Superintendent roles as project volume grows — and our pipeline is growing consistently across [PRIMARY MARKET] and six additional markets.

What You'll Be Doing

Crew Leadership & Workforce Management

  • Lead a team of low voltage technicians on active hyperscale data center and commercial construction jobsites — setting daily goals, managing productivity, and solving problems in real time
  • Handle workforce planning for your projects — crew scheduling, labor tracking, timesheet completion, and coordination with contract workers when scope requires additional hands
  • Train technicians in installation methods, test equipment operation, safety procedures, and quality standards — you're expected to develop the people on your crew, not just direct them
  • Identify and address personnel issues on-site, escalating to the Superintendent or PM when appropriate

Project Execution & Quality Control

  • Own daily execution of structured cabling, fiber optic, and low voltage infrastructure scopes — [INSERT: specify fiber types e.g., OM4/OS2/single-mode, copper categories e.g., Cat6A/Cat8, pathway systems]
  • Monitor job progress against schedule daily, track costs using project reporting tools and Bluebeam, and adjust crew deployment and material staging to protect the timeline
  • Manage Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) — tracking scope changes for materials and labor accurately and ensuring proper documentation flows to the PM and estimating team
  • Oversee on-site materials management — ordering supplies, coordinating deliveries, managing warehouse communication, and ensuring materials are staged and accounted for

Quality & Safety

  • Operate and interpret results from test equipment including [INSERT: e.g., Fluke DSX-600/8000, OTDR, certification testers] — ensure all test documentation meets project specifications and client standards
  • Lead daily safety compliance on-site — toolbox talks, hazard identification, PPE enforcement, and adherence to site-specific safety plans, particularly the stringent access control and safety requirements common in hyperscale data center environments
  • Conduct quality control checks throughout installation — not just at close-out — and hold your crew to LINX standards at every phase

Customer & Stakeholder Communication

  • Maintain professional, proactive communication with clients and GCs at your assigned sites — represent LINX as a competent, organized operation every day on site
  • Participate in pre-bid walkthroughs and post-project reviews with Project Managers, Estimating, and Sales teams
  • Escalate customer concerns, scope conflicts, or schedule risks to the PM immediately — don't let small issues become large ones
Minimum Requirements

Experience

  • 3–5 years of hands-on low voltage or structured cabling installation experience, with mastery of installation methods, tools, and quality standards across copper and fiber systems
  • 1–2 years in a field leadership role — Lead Technician, working Foreman, or equivalent — where you were responsible for crew productivity and quality, not just your own work
  • Hyperscale data center experience strongly preferred and will be prioritized in our review process — if you have it, make sure it's clearly described in your resume

Technical Skills

  • Full mastery of low voltage tools, equipment, and installation processes — you can do everything you're asking your crew to do, and you can teach it
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents — Scope of Work, Bill of Materials, as-builts, blueprints, and project schedules
  • Proficiency with test equipment including [INSERT specific platforms] — run tests, interpret failures, troubleshoot, and produce clean documentation
  • Familiarity with project cost tracking and Bluebeam Revu for document management and markup
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry standards [INSERT: e.g., TIA-568, TIA-942, BICSI TDMM, NEC Article 800]

Leadership & Communication

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and hold accountable a crew of technicians in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English — you will interact directly with clients, GCs, and internal teams on a daily basis
  • Ability to manage staffing, scheduling, timesheets, and change order documentation accurately and on time

Logistics

  • Valid driver's license required
  • [INSERT: Travel expectations — local only, regional, or national for data center project deployments?]
  • Ability to meet site-specific physical requirements including [INSERT if applicable: confined space entry, elevated work, data center access credentialing]
Preferred Certifications

These are genuinely preferred — candidates who hold them will move to the top of our review. None are hard requirements for a strong candidate with the right experience.

CertificationIssuing Body
BICSI Installer 2 (either Copper or Optical Fiber pathway)BICSI
BICSI TechnicianBICSI
Confined Space Entry Certification[Site-specific or OSHA-compliant provider]
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30OSHA

Note on BICSI: The Installer 1 and Installer 2 credentials are distinct certifications — Installer 1 covers fundamental skills, Installer 2 is pathway-specific (Copper or Optical Fiber) and requires documented OJT hours plus a written exam. If you hold either, specify which pathway and whether you've completed OJT requirements. We support candidates in completing BICSI certification after hire.

Compensation & Benefits

Benefits:

  • 401(k) with 50% employer match on first 5% contributed
