Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and dependable Accounts Receivable Administrative Specialist to join our Business Office. This position plays an essential role in ensuring the timely and accurate management of consumer accounts, insurance billing, and financial reporting while supporting the mission of SHCMHC.
What You'll Do
As our Accounts Receivable Administrative Specialist, you will:
- Maintain Medicaid, Medicare, Waiver, and other consumer accounts with accuracy.
- Prepare monthly account statements and insurance billing.
- Complete month-end balancing and reconciliations.
- Process cash receipts and manual invoices.
- Monitor aging accounts and resolve outstanding balances.
- Maintain accurate billing records in electronic health record and financial systems.
- Communicate with internal departments regarding billing questions and account discrepancies.
- Assist with audits by organizing and verifying documentation.
- Process outgoing mail and billing correspondence.
- Respond professionally to consumer and payer inquiries.
- Protect confidential financial and consumer information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve billing and accounts receivable processes.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles
- Excellent data entry accuracy
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Accounting, or a related field
- Experience in medical billing, healthcare finance, or accounts receivable
- Experience with accounting software or electronic health record systems
- QuickBooks experience or certification
- Bookkeeping, Certified Accounts Receivable Professional (CARP), CPA, or related certifications
