The General Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of a large-scale, high-rise multifamily community while ensuring exceptional resident service, financial performance, asset preservation, and team development. This role provides strategic leadership across all departments to achieve operational excellence and ownership objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee all day-to-day operations of a high-rise multifamily community to ensure operational excellence and resident satisfaction

• Lead, develop, and manage on-site leadership teams, including leasing, maintenance, concierge, housekeeping, and administrative staff

• Drive occupancy, revenue, resident retention, and overall property performance

• Prepare, manage, and monitor operating budgets, financial reports, and ownership reporting

• Oversee leasing operations, pricing strategies, lease renewals, and resident relations

• Ensure compliance with company policies, Fair Housing, OSHA, and all federal, state, and local regulations

• Partner with Regional Leadership, Asset Management, and ownership to execute business plans and achieve financial goals

• Manage vendor relationships, service contracts, and capital improvement projects

• Conduct regular inspections to ensure the community, amenities, and common areas are maintained to the highest standards

• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and exceptional customer service

• Perform other duties and projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Property Management, or a related field preferred

• Minimum 7 years of progressive multifamily property management experience, including leadership experience

• Previous experience managing a high-rise or large-scale multifamily community strongly preferred

• Demonstrated experience managing operating budgets, financial reporting, and revenue performance

• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and property management software (Yardi preferred)

• Thorough knowledge of Fair Housing and property management best practices

Licensing Requirement: An Illinois Leasing Agent License or Broker's License is required for this position. If not currently licensed, the selected candidate must obtain the required license within 120 days of hire.

SUPERVISORY EXPECTATIONS:

Directly supervises one or more employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, coaching, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, concerns; and resolving problems.
