Head Coach, Cross Country - Varsity in Hopkins, Minnesota at THE BLAKE SCHOOL

TITLE: Head Varsity Cross Country Coach

Following the mission of The Blake School and the core purposes of the athletic department, the Head Varsity Cross Country Coach will direct, serve, and coordinate The Blake School Cross Country program.

The Blake Cross Country Program competes in the Independent Metro Athletic Conference and the Minnesota State High School League.

• Plan and coordinate all practices, training schedules, and competition schedules.
• Develop student-athletes both individually and as a team through age-appropriate training and skill development.
• Assist in the selection, supervision, and evaluation of assistant coaches.
• Support and collaborate with youth and middle school cross country and distance running programs to foster program continuity.
• Design and implement comprehensive training plans that promote endurance, strength, injury prevention, and overall athlete wellness.
• Prepare athletes for conference, section, and state competition through strategic planning and race preparation.
• Communicate effectively and consistently with student-athletes, parents, assistant coaches, and the Athletic Department.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and competitive team culture that reflects the mission and values of The Blake School.
• Guide student-athletes interested in competing collegiately through the recruiting process.
• Ensure compliance with all Minnesota State High School League, Independent Metro Athletic Conference, and Blake School policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

• Strong knowledge of cross country training principles, distance running, and race strategy.
• Demonstrated success coaching cross country and/or track and field at the high school or collegiate level.
• Passion for developing high school student-athletes both athletically and personally.
• Ability to balance team culture with individualized athlete development.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Integrity, fairness, and a commitment to sportsmanship.
• A clear vision for building and sustaining a successful cross country program aligned with the mission of The Blake School.
