About This Position

Algorithm Engineer (Machine Learning Focus) - RemoteReporting to the CTO, the Lead Algorithm Engineer will play a pivotal role in our mission to revolutionize remote in-home health monitoring. You will lead a team responsible for the design and implementation of the machine learning models powering Casana’s Heart Seat™. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of machine learning techniques, signal processing, possess strong programming and communication skills, and have experience working with large datasets.

What You Will Do
  • Lead by example in developing, testing, and deploying deep learning models and machine learning algorithms with a focus on processing BCG, ECG, and PPG signals to derive cardiovascular measures
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Research team to understand and enhance data capture processes, ensuring alignment with algorithmic needs and product goals
  • Design and implement data processing pipelines optimized for large-scale physiological datasets
  • Research and innovate in the application of cutting-edge machine learning techniques focusing on improving precision and reliability
  • Conduct experiments and perform statistical analysis to validate model performance, adhering to regulatory standards for medical devices
  • Optimize algorithms for production deployment ensuring scalability, robustness, and observability
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with the engineering teams to integrate machine learning models into the overall product
  • Drive design discussions, lead code reviews and establish best practices for machine learning engineering
  • Present to the Casana Executive Team and Board of Directors on progress towards key deliverables
  • Proactively adapt to evolving company needs in our fast-paced environment

What We Require
  • Degree in Software Engineering, Data Science, or related discipline. Advanced degree, Masters or PhD, preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in algorithm development leveraging deep learning and neural networks, with a strong emphasis on time-series signals, physiological data, and device signal/sensor processing
  • Proven track record in applying advanced data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model selection techniques
  • Experience with signal processing, an emphasis on biomedical preferred
  • Expert-level programming skills in Python, with deep familiarity with machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar
  • Experience developing products for regulated environments is highly desired, specifically familiarity with FDA regulations (e.g., CFR Part 11) and standards like ISO 62304
