We are seeking a motivated and skilled Digital Communications Specialist to join our dynamic marketing and communications team. This role is essential to advancing the university's mission through strategic digital communications across various platforms.

Job Overview

The Digital Communications Specialist will be responsible for managing and enhancing Harrisburg University's digital presence. This involves social media, website content, email campaigns within Slate and Constant Contact, and digital marketing efforts. The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about effective digital communication in higher education and nonprofit settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Email Marketing: Develop and execute high-impact campaigns using Constant Contact and Slate to communicate effectively with students, alumni, and partners and that drives awareness, increases engagement, and achieves strategy objectives. This is a key and recurring deliverable in support of the offices of University Advancement and Admissions. Utilize Slate to develop targeted digital communication campaigns and manage audience engagement using a combination of HTML, CSS, and CRM tools that drive successful campaigns.
  • Social Media Management: Create, manage, and optimize content for the university’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.), ensuring alignment with branding and marketing goals. Coordinate efforts with Content Manager and marketing intern.
  • Website Development and Maintenance: With Director of Digital Marketing, oversee website updates, ensuring content is current, accessible, and optimized for user experience.
  • Digital Analytics: Monitor and analyze digital performance across platforms, providing insights and recommendations for improvement, using Google Analytics and Slate/Constant Contact engagement data.
  • Collaborative Projects: Work closely with internal departments to coordinate digital communications strategies for various initiatives and events.
  • Branding Support: Ensure digital communications align with the university’s brand guidelines and support marketing, communications, and event objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in digital communications, preferably in a nonprofit or higher education setting.
  • Proficiency in email marketing platforms (Slate, Constant Contact), social media management, and web development.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides), and Canva.
  • Experience with CSS/HTML and WordPress; knowledge of SEO best practices and web design is a plus.
  • Experience with digital analytics tools and the ability to interpret data to improve digital strategy.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

This position is an on-campus role, requiring a minimum of four days each week in the office. The successful candidate must be adaptable and able to collaborate in both remote and in-office settings.
