About This Position
The primary functions are to organize and setup a science tutor lab, provide tutoring to GCSC students enrolled in science courses. This position would also help supervise student tutors and part-time tutors for the Science lab.
The position may require non-standard hours (nights and weekends). Though working hours may be flexible, scheduling will be based primarily on the scheduling needs of the program participants. The position also requires the ability to work with faculty, staff and students. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, verbal, listening and communication skills are required, as well as an exceptional ability to convey personal knowledge of biology and chemistry to students in a fundamental and supportive manner.

Organize and set up a science tutoring lab.
Provide tutoring for science courses (example biology, chemistry, physics).
Provide individual or group tutoring on specific assignments
Develop tutorial material related to science courses
Attend professional development and training
Attend Natural Sciences division meetings when needed.
Help coordinate online tutoring
Work with the students to encourage them to attend program activities and become active in the life of the college and community
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry or Physical Sciences, from a regionally accredited college or university.
Teaching experience and a Master’s degree in one of the natural sciences preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Part-Time Tutors and Student Tutors
