Job Description
Assistant Teacher Responsibilities
- Arrive at school promptly for scheduled shifts as agreed upon with the Director.
- Understand, uphold, and model the Mission, policies, and philosophy of the Temple Shalom Nursery School.
- Support classroom lead teachers by executing daily instructions, engaging with children, maintaining classroom housekeeping, and strictly upholding safety guidelines.
- Actively participate in curriculum planning initiatives.
- Attend team planning meetings whenever possible and provide classroom coverage so lead teachers can participate in planning sessions.
- Attend all mandatory Whole School Team meetings.
- Complete required professional development hours in accordance with Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) guidelines.
- Engage in ongoing evaluation, reflective practices, and regular supervision with the Director.
- Participate in the formal Yearly Review and Job Appraisal process as outlined in the Supervision and Evaluation section of this handbook.
