Job Title: New Graduate Licensed Practical Nurse- Dialysis
Location: Rochester General Hospital, Unity Hospital, Seneca Ridge, Baycreek, Chili/Spencerport.
Hours Per Week: 40
Schedule: Day & Evening

SUMMARY
As a Licensed Practical Nurse in Hemodialysis, your specialized skill set and ability to collaborate with the Registered Nurse is vital to exceptional patient care.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts and documents a thorough assessment of each patient’s medical status upon admission and throughout the patient’s course of treatment.
• Assists in the implementation of the patient’s treatment plan under the direction of the RN.
• Complies with the evaluation, treatment, and documentation guidelines of the department.
• Acts in compliance with hospital, regulatory, and professional standards and policies.
• Maintains clinical currency by pursuing continuing education opportunities.
• Administers IVP medications specific to dialysis patient population.
• Initiate and discontinue dialysis treatments using multiple access sites including AV fistulas, AV grafts and Central Venous Catheters (CVC).
• Clean and redress CVC skin sites.
• Draw Blood from CVC.
• Respond to CVC line separations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate from an accredited School of Practical Nursing.
• Current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse license.
• Completion of the NYS Department of Health and NYS DOE approved training curriculum for LPN’s working in Outpatient Hemodialysis Units (completed as part of unit based orientation).
• Completion of the NYS DOH and NYS DOE approved annual competency for LPN’s accessing central lines in a hemodialysis unit (completed as part of unit based orientation).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.

- LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - NYS Office of Professions
- BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)
PAY RANGE: $26.52 - $32.64
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
