Job Title: Underground Utility Foreman
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $42.00 - $57.25 per hour
Job Summary
Carney Engineering Construction, Inc. (CEC) is looking for an experienced Underground Utility Foreman to lead a team of skilled workers in the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground utilities. This role will oversee projects involving water, sewer, storm drain and dry utility systems. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining strong communication with clients, inspectors, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage crews in the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground utilities (water, sewer, storm drain and dry utility systems).
- Safely operate heavy machinery such as excavators, backhoes, and trenchers for trench excavation, pipe laying, and backfilling.
- Interpret and execute project plans, blueprints, and specifications accurately.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a strong safety culture on-site.
- Communicate regularly with clients, inspectors, and stakeholders to provide project updates and address any concerns.
- Train and supervise crew members, ensuring efficient work and adherence to safety standards.
- Coordinate equipment, crew, and material needs with the project management team.
- Maintain project schedules, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
- Complete and submit timely reports, paperwork, and project status updates.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and vehicles are maintained and accounted for daily.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in underground utility construction
- Proven ability to lead and manage crews in the field.
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment, including excavators, backhoes, and trenchers.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, inspectors, and stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage project schedules and keep work on track and within budget.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a drug test and background check.
