Supervisor, Consumer Lending at Sunward Federal Credit Union – Albuquerque, New Mexico

Job Summary:

This position is a pivotal leader in our organization and will oversee the consumer lending and processing activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and productivity in auto, personal, credit card and home equity lines of credit.

Supervisor and Leadership Responsibilities:

• Liaise with HR and OD to recruit, onboard, and retain high-quality staff.
• Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
• Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
• Effectively coach, mentor, motivate, and manage the staff to ensure delivery of communications to employees in a timely and accurate manner while maintaining the Credit Union’s high standard of quality.
• Ensure that the department fosters a productive, rewarding work environment that provides for the development of employees; meets all established goals and metrics; and operates within the Credit Union’s core values.

Main responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operations of the consumer loan lending department.
• Back up lenders by originating, reviewing, and evaluating consumer loan applications during extremely busy
• Lead consumer lending staff to achieve department goals in direct, indirect, and HELOC production, service, and quality.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies throughout the lending process.
• Work with management to develop and implement lending policies, procedures, and standards to maintain productivity.
• Monitor and manage workloads to ensure timely and accurate processing of loan applications.
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate new loan products and services, as well as enhancements to existing products and pricing/promotional strategies to ensure competitive consumer loan programs
• Develop strong relationships with internal and external business partners to provide seamless product and service delivery to members and to achieve consumer loan goals
• Evaluate and manage risks related to the delivery of consumer loan products in a manner that provides for maximum service value to members and an appropriate level of risk to the Credit Union
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent organizational skills and time management.
• Ability to reach and/or exceed production goals
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Familiar and comfortable with information technology, particularly digital means of communication.
• Excellent team management skills

Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of laws and regulations governing lending and financial institutions
• Advanced knowledge of consumer lending documents, disclosures, terminology and guidelines.
• Strong knowledge in loan origination systems

Education and Experience:

• Minimum four years of combined experience in consumer lending, leadership or other related experience
• High school diploma or equivalent, or more than four years of related experience in lieu of education.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift 5 pounds at times.
