This role serves as the critical bridge between underwriting, operations, and technology to ensure the successful delivery, performance, and continuous improvement of a digital underwriting platform. The Director combines business analysis, quality assurance, production support, and API integration oversight to create a seamless digital underwriting experience. By translating complex workflows into clear specifications, monitoring system performance, and driving enhancements, this position improves operational efficiency, supports brokers, and enables scalable growth. The role also leads cross-functional collaboration, manages platform issues, and ensures smooth onboarding for partners. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, tech-savvy, and possesses deep knowledge of commercial insurance workflows.
- Partner with underwriting, distribution, operations, and IT teams to gather, define, and document business requirements for the digital underwriting platform
- Translate complex underwriting workflows, appetite rules, and referral logic into clear functional specifications
- Lead prioritization of platform enhancements that improve underwriting efficiency, broker experience, and submission quality
- Conduct user acceptance testing and ensure defects are documented, prioritized, and resolved before release
- Monitor post-release performance, quickly addressing any production issues affecting users or brokers
- Act as the business liaison for API integrations, supporting partner onboarding and ensuring data quality and adoption
- Analyze user feedback, operational metrics, and live chat trends to inform platform improvements
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in business analysis, quality assurance, or systems roles within commercial insurance
- Strong understanding of underwriting processes, especially in excess casualty or specialty lines
- Experience supporting digital platforms or broker portals
- Knowledge of policy administration systems and commercial insurance workflows
- Familiarity with API concepts (REST, JSON, data mapping, integration patterns) and rules engines
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical and business requirements
- Understanding of UX/UI considerations and their impact on broker adoption and operational efficiency
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and prioritize competing tasks
