Manufacturing Engineering Manager with Merchants Metals, LLC (Houston, TX)
Lead the maintenance and manufacturing team in the plant. Develop and implement a maintenance and reliability program to ensure the safety of the team and maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of the plant. Document existing equipment. Develop preventative maintenance program for each asset in the plant. Establish a spares management program (physical storage, inventory tracking, rhythms, and system). Establish planning/scheduling system to ensure preventative maintenance and work orders are being prioritized appropriately and executed on in a timely manner. Create an org structure with rhythms to support program. Track effectiveness of the program with data to drive continuous improvement. Track trends and analyze data of Preventive vs Corrective and Work Orders to drive improvements and increase uptime. Builds people capability through effective employee relations, hiring, training, and communication for front-line hourly personnel. Partner with plant leadership, operations to ensure equipment improvements are achieved through preventive and predictive maintenance tools. Establish, document, and control manufacturing processes to ensure: Best-in-industry product quality. Internal product CTQ’s are identified and controlled to ensure productivity/handoffs between departments. Balance/Level-load production levels & WIP between departments. Production operators have clear instructions on how to operate the equipment in the safest, most reliable manner. Develop and implement SOP for all assets. Develop plan for Total Productive Maintenance (operator-led preventative maintenance work). Recommend and execute plant Capital Expenditure needs. Develop strong relationships with equipment manufacturers to ensure the plant is staying up to date with the latest technology. Establish relationships with local spares inventory suppliers to ensure spares inventory is in stock and/or readily available when needed. Assure inventory levels for spare parts based on daily consumption and criticality of the part. Develop a continuous improvement program to ensure a sustained competitive advantage in the market (KPOs, operator idea generation process, etc.). Ambassador of the plant lean journey. Develop strategy/vision and collaborate between departments to drive progress. Use external relationships to generate ideas and drive improvement. Assure support, Lead, assist of new projects implementation in the plant in the safest and timely manner. Deploy strategies in reliability that build maintenance and technician capabilities (training). Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally to assist teams to solve operational issues. Develop Maintenance Reliability strategy for the plant. Develop and implement Maintenance a Mfg. Metrics on daily operation boards at all levels. Develop and implement Hand-off meeting at shift change with Leads, Planner and Supervisor. Partners with quality to assure SCRAP cost reduction projects across the plant. Supervises 3 direct reports, including: 1 Plant Engineer, 1 Maintenance Supervisor, and 1 Tool Crib Coordinator.
Requirements: Requires a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field. Requires 3 years of experience. Employer will accept pre-Bachelor’s experience.
Must have some experience in each of the following skills: Experience managing a team of professionals/technicians; Lean and continuous improvement experience, lead kaizen events; Implementation of Maintenance and reliability program (Preventive and Predictive Maintenance); Ensure proper utilization of CMMs (preferred eMaint); Software and implementation for QMS (Quality Management System); and Control of budget of Repair and Maintenance expenses.
