About This Position
Summary
The Quality Inspector - 2nd shift, is accountable for the inspection of all products and raw materials, under the direction of the inspection lead - Quality Manager.
Responsibilities
- Use a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments where work instructions are well defined to check dimensions and record results.
- Perform necessary mathematical computations to determine extent of nonconformance and complete appropriate paperwork.
- Follow proper procedures to perform inspection checks and verification of dimensions and make sure that Work Instructions are being followed.
- Recognize need and arrange for repair or replacement of measuring equipment used in performing the work as necessary.
- Support and promote continuous improvement activities to meet business objectives.
- Must maintain Inspection stamp.
- Manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously
- Flexibility around shifts, for training and to maintain workflow, to include overtime
- DQR / SQA experience preferred
- Comply with OSHA, health, safety and environment requirements.
- May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individuals’ skills.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or Equivalent degree required
- 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- 2+ years inspection experience preferred (non-aerospace acceptable)
- Strong attention to detail requiring thoroughness of completing work tasks
- Superior integrity at all times
- Strong teamwork and cooperation skills
- Ability to be adaptable and flexible to changing work environment and assignments
- Demonstrated dependability in fulfilling obligations
- Demonstrated initiative to willingly take on responsibilities and challenges
- Proficient analytical thinking requiring analysis of information and use of logic to address issues
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and various Manufacturing ERPs (Job Boss, Unipoint)
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Physical Requirements
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
The worker may be required to move, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and/or complete repetitive motions during course of work.
Visual Requirements
The worker is required to have visual acuity typical of administrative, operational, close assembly, inspection personnel. Minimum standard for those preparing and analyzing data and figures, such as transcription, computer terminal, extensive reading visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, operation of machines (including inspection), using measurement devices for assembly or fabrication of parts at distance close to the eyes.
Environmental Conditions
The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
The worker is subject to vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.
The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
The worker is subject to oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
