About This Position

Description:

Primary Function:

Under the general supervision of the General Manager, will perform tasks and other work activities associated with the operation and maintenance for the Pike County Light & Power electric system located in Pike County, PA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Perform Switching and Tagging (SCADA)

2. Plan and schedule construction activities for company and contractor personnel

3. Plan, schedule and implement maintenance and inspection programs on the electric system facilities

4. Assure all construction employee and contractor personnel comply with PCLP Procedures and Standards, Pennsylvania Utility Commission Codes and Regulations, OSHA requirements and all other appropriate codes

5. Arranges for contractor resources (when needed)

6. Approve contractor timesheets and invoices

7. Design primary metering for 3 phase jobs

8. Design LTIIP projects

9. Design regular system maintenance projects

10. Included on Standby rotation

11. Investigate trouble calls, tree complaints and performs damage assessing to identify or verify damage in field

12. Organize restoration and repair efforts

13. Provide restoration/repair information and statuses to all necessary departments

14. Design and draft billing estimates for all phases of residential and commercial construction projects including but not limited to circuit improvements, expansions, new circuits, new construction, upgrades, dig ins, line conversions, incidents, relocation projects, reconductoring existing circuits and insurance claims

15. Interface with customers and electricians for residential and commercial construction projects

16. Schedule disconnects and reconnects

17. Schedule planned outages

18. Call in Dig Tickets

19. Create, process and file right of way easements for state, federal, municipal and/or private premises

20. Apply for required permits from PennDOT, state, county and municipal for all construction and maintenance activities

21. Maintain and file completed design packets, sketches, material lists, permits, easements and costs

22. Assist in the preparation of the construction and maintenance plans and budget

23. Liaison for state, federal and local municipalities during projects and at site meetings

24. Liaison for cable TV, solar, telecommunications contractors and customers

25. Size step banks, 3 phase transformers, 1 phase transformers

26. Check amps added to circuit and balance load

27. Perform load studies

28. Perform voltage investigations

29. Update pole asset records

30. Update transformer cards and logs

31. Update service requirement manuals

32. Update constructions and material books

33. Maintain database of all electric construction activity

34. Maintain database of electric inspection and maintenance programs

35. Track open Work Orders

36. Close out Work Orders

37. Completes Service Orders and provide to Customer Service Department

38. Performs flagging (when needed)

39. Deliver material to site (when needed)

40. Request inventory orders from Purchasing Department

41. Verify material quoted and received adheres to PCLP specifications

42. Verify detailed drawings on 3 phase and single transformers, switches, impedance

43. Assist in maintaining the warehouse

44. Unload tractor trailers (when needed)

45. Sends updates to mapping editor

46. Prepares damaged transformers for pick up to be refurbished or scrapped

47. Determines the appropriate streetlight and private area light requirements

48. Interface with Public Utility Commission field inspection staff

49. Request the purchase, maintenance and repair of special tools and equipment required

PLEASE NOTE: The Senior Planner is a union position under IBEW Local 777.

Requirements:

Specific Requirements of the Job:

(i.e., education, licensing, certification, registration)

  1. High School Education
  2. Basic computer skills
  3. Able to pass drug testing requirements from various governmental agencies
  4. Able to perform all the duties of Storekeeper/Designer – 1st Class; Storekeeper/Designer – 2nd Class; and Senior Storekeeper-Designer
  5. 2 years’ experience as a Senior Storekeeper-Designer or equivalent

Physical Requirements of the Job:

1. You must have the ability to work extended overtime

2. You must be able to attend work during inclement weather
