Job Description:
Assist dentists during examination and treatment of patients.
Schedule:
40 hours/week (Mon-Fri) 7:00 AM- 3:30 PM AND one Sunday a month
Onsite at Bristol County Jail, N. Dartmouth, MA
Rate:
$25/hr.
Requirements:Responsibilities:
- Provide direct assistance by keeping operating field clear, passing instruments and suctioning.
- Sterilize instruments in the dental office.
- Responsible for mixing of restorative materials.
- Assist in taking intra-oral and extra-oral x-rays.
- Develop and mount x-ray films.
- Perform intra-oral tasks as defined by law. Ensure that there are a sufficient number of trays set up for the day’s patients: pulpotomy, caries control, amalgam, perio/scaling.
- Maintain x-ray unit, processor, autoclave and dental units according to specifications.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of dental clinic by cleaning the area daily and sanitizing the area weekly.
- Take inventory of supplies and equipment to maintain sufficient levels.
- Order supplies and equipment as needed with approval of the dentist.
- It is an essential part of the job that CPS can ask the employee to work beyond his/her regularly scheduled hours.
- Follow all security rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a dental assistant.
- CPR certification required
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move over 35 pounds.
- Be able to perform CPS if needed
