Schedule: Monday – Friday | 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM

Position Summary:
Little Scholars Learning Center – North is seeking a dependable, organized, and caring Cook / Floater to join our team. This position is responsible for opening the center each morning, preparing nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with the North Dakota Food Program guidelines, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and organization, assisting staff throughout the day, and supporting classrooms and transportation needs when necessary.

The ideal candidate is reliable, flexible, enjoys working with children, and can manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced childcare environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Opening & Daily Setup,
Open the childcare center promptly at 6:30 AM,
Complete daily opening procedures and prepare the center for the day,
Ensure kitchen and food service areas are clean, organized, and ready for meal preparation,
Check in with staff members regarding classroom or daily needs,
Meal Preparation & Food Service,
Prepare and serve nutritious breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks,
Follow all North Dakota Food Program guidelines and meal requirements,
Maintain accurate food records and meal counts,
Ensure proper food handling, sanitation, and storage procedures are followed,
Accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions as required,
Plan meals according to North Dakota Food Program requirements,
Cleaning & Kitchen Maintenance,
Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, dishes, and food preparation areas after each meal service,
Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the kitchen and cleaning room,
Complete inventory lists for kitchen supplies, food items, and cleaning supplies,
Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management,
Assist with organizing and stocking food and cleaning supplies,
Classroom & Center Support,
Assist in classrooms as a teacher or support staff member when needed,
Help supervise children while maintaining a safe and positive environment,
Support center staff with daily operations and teamwork needs,
Transportation Duties,
Assist with school transportation responsibilities as needed,
Safely transport children following center policies and procedures,
Ensure proper child attendance and safety during transportation,

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred,
Previous experience in food service, childcare, or a related field preferred,
Ability to meet North Dakota Food Program requirements,
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record preferred,
CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain,
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and remain active throughout the day,
Strong organizational and communication skills,
Dependable, flexible, and team-oriented attitude

Preferred Skills:
Experience working in a licensed childcare center,
Knowledge of CACFP or North Dakota Food Program regulations,
Ability to multitask and work independently,
Positive attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed.
