Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Inventory Control and Logistics Specialist is responsible for inventory at various third-party warehouse fulfillment centers and handling all aspects of global logistics. The ideal candidate for the Inventory Control and Logistics Specialist will be proactive, able to work locally and regionally at a fast pace, and have a robust and committed work ethic. This position will report to the Logistics Supervisor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage directly with 3PL partners and the global logistics team regarding day-to-day logistics and inventory activities.
  • Recommend optimal transportation modes. Analyze the financial impact of the proposed logistics plan, such as new warehouse and shipping methods.
  • Responsible for day-to-day inventory transactions and accuracy of inventory records, including weekly, monthly, and annual reconciliation on an assigned warehouse.
  • Maintain records of relevant documentation for audit purposes.
  • Perform quarterly, or as required, cyclic inventory inspection at the 3PL warehouse.
  • Participate in rate negotiations with carriers, freight forwarders, and brokers to ensure the highest service level with maximum incentive.
  • Assist in new 3PL partner's evaluation, qualification, and selection.
  • Drive the performance evaluation of 3PL warehouses and domestic carriers using scorecards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, sales, operations/order management, finance, and logistics partners.
  • Maintain policies and procedures (SOP) for logistics activities. Design models for use in evaluating logistics programs or services.
  • Manage auditing of freight invoices and customs import entries to ensure accuracy and compliance—monitor product import or export processes for compliance with regulatory or legal requirements.
  • Effectively utilize all applicable modes of transportation: TL, LTL, and intermodal services by analyzing and evaluating best freight handling and transport practices.
  • Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, import or export, or customer issues.
  • Maintain matrix, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, and other data related to all logistics activities.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor or manager.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically, up to 20%.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or a minimum of 4 years of experience in global logistics, purchasing, customer service, warehouse management, and/or inventory control.
  • Experienced in ERP Systems, SAP preferred.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
