Job Title: Summer Banking College Intern
Reports To: Assigned Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Paid Internship)
Summary:
Join us for a rewarding journey around the Bank to learn what it is like to see how a Bank works. Work in many different departments within a bank and experience how the different departments work together to meet the needs of our clients. Meet with senior leaders and managers bank-wide and gain networking opportunities with individuals who have a deep banking background. Interns will have the opportunity to shadow departments across the Bank from virtual banking, marketing, credit, HR, retail, treasury management, lending, accounting, quality control, and bank management! We are looking for individuals who are goal-driven, excited to learn, and want to operate in a teamwork-based environment. Additionally, Interns will have an opportunity to visit multiple branch locations in our markets: Northeast Missouri, Southern Illinois, St. Charles, and St. Louis.
The overall goal is for our Interns to learn about Royal Banks of Missouri by completing weekly assignments around what you learn and experience, creating weekly social media posts, and a putting together a final project.
Specific Work Areas:
You have the opportunity to select which department you would like to focus on for the summer. Please select your Top 3 choices when you apply, ranking your choices 1, 2, and 3. The departments are:
Credit
Human Resources
Loan Operations
Marketing
Mortgage and Consumer Loans
Operations
Treasury Management
Availability/Schedule:
Monday, June 8 – Friday, July 31, 2026
Monday-Friday (32 – 40 hours/week)
8:45am-4:30pm
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Retail Branches- Learn to cross-sell bank services, understand the various types of accounts and certificates, interest, and compounding rates. You will also gain experience in assisting our clients via our virtual banking portals.
- Marketing- Learn about marketing bank products, posting on social media and following advertising regulations. Create and make weekly social media posts with our Marketing team.
- ITM (Interactive Teller Machine) Department- Shadow a client service specialist to virtually assist clients in any of our branch drive-thru machines. Help with processing transactions, cashing checks, making deposits, withdrawals, or payments.
- Loan Department – Shadow our loan officers and learn the process of building client relationships, prospecting, and putting together loan details.
- Treasury Management Department- Work with members of our treasury department and learn about various products and services that can help businesses. Learn the importance of Fraud Utilities and how to optimize cash flow with our treasury management department.
- Credit Department- Learn the analysis of personal and corporate tax returns in order to determine credit worthiness of a business and assist in maintaining the banks securities portfolio to ensure sufficient collateral for all depositors with our credit department.
- Accounting Department – Shadow members of our accounting team and learn about accounts payable and receivable. Learn how to balance bank accounts, balance sheets and bank finances. Learn about maintaining the banks securities portfolio to ensure sufficient collateral for all depositors.
- Quality Control Department - Learn about CIP (Customer Identification Program), what documentation is needed to open an account, and how to distinguish between account types.
- Bank Management - Meet with senior leaders to learn how the bank is run.
- Human Resources Department - Learn about full cycle Human Resources processes from recruitment to retirement, including benefits and payroll.
- Community Reinvestment – Learn how the bank gives back to our communities.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reports to work punctually as scheduled.
- Submit assignments to manager on a weekly basis and as requested.
- Work in various branch locations.
- Complete financial educational courses through Banzai, BAI, and CSI online learning courses.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
- Comply with all bank policies, regulations and laws applicable to carrying out duties and responsibilities.
- Keeps strict confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a collegiate degree program with an emphasis in specialized fields such as: Accounting, Business, Communications, Economics, Finance, or Marketing.
- Prefer students entering their Junior or Senior year.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic PC skills-MS Office (Outlook, Word & Excel)
- Intermediate level interpersonal and communication skills
- Intermediate level organizational skills
- Flexible, team player, self-starter
- Ability to multi-task

There may times when the Intern will need to drive to/from a site visit.
Duties require Interns to work onsite.
