About This Position
The Senior Design Engineer - Audiovisual (AV) is a senior technical role responsible for designing and delivering advanced audiovisual and production system solutions, including live event environments and hybrid IP/SDI infrastructures. This position works closely with clients, sales teams, and project stakeholders to transform complex technical and operational needs into scalable, high-performance system designs.
As a technical leader, the Senior AV Design Engineer drives system architecture, develops engineering documentation, and provides expert guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through commissioning. The role also supports engineering best practices, mentors team members, and helps ensure solutions meet performance, quality, and client expectations.

- Live event and broadcast signal flow design
- Hybrid IP/SDI workflow architecture (ST 2110, AES67, NDI, SRT)
- System architecture and signal flow development
- Engineering documentation and drawing production
- Media networking concepts (VLANs, QoS, multicast, IGMP)
- Technical consultation and client engagement
- Construction and architectural coordination
- Technical risk identification and solution development
- Engineering standards and quality assurance

- System commissioning and performance validation
Design advanced AV and production system solutions based on client and project requirements
Develop system architectures, signal flows, and engineering documentation for implementation
Provide technical guidance to clients, sales teams, and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
Review project plans and specifications to support technical estimating, planning, and risk identification
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions align with performance goals, budgets, and timelines
Support system testing, commissioning, and validation to ensure designs meet specifications
Present technical concepts and solutions to internal teams and clients when needed
Review engineering work for quality and consistency and mentor junior engineers
Contribute to engineering standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives
Maintain required certifications and participate in ongoing professional development
Required Qualifications
Associate degree in technology or equivalent professional experience required
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred
8+ years of professional experience in AV, IT, or media systems engineering
AVIXA CTS-D certification required
CompTIA Network+ certification required within one year of hire
Advanced experience developing engineering drawings for architectural or construction environments
Working knowledge of International Building Code (IBC) and National Electric Code (NEC) standards
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills
Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and exercise sound technical judgment
Preferred Qualifications
BICSI RCDD certification
Experience with production control rooms, flypacks, and temporary production environments
Experience with broadcast test and measurement tools and signal analysis platforms
